Hey guys, just bought a maier fender for rear of my 350x for a good price. This item is new in the bag but I have pulled it out and it has severely yellowed in storage. The topside of the fender is affected but the bottom side is fine. Anyone had this happen before and is there a quick and easy way to get it looking white again? I have heard of bleaching them but thought I would see if anyone has any experience here first.
Thanks,
Matt

I wonder how far down the yellow spots have bleed in. Maybe wet sanding and polishing?

Exactly, wet sand and polish.

Yeah righto, fair enough. Was hoping to avoid that. Might just return them. Thanks.

They would essentially be as good as new after. I get it though, especially if you paid a lot for them.

Tossing up whether to do the sanding method or not really. I guess it's a lot of man hours in it. All the nooks and crannies. Test fitted them earlier too, they just aren't the same as the OEM fit that's for sure. My originals are in perfect condition and it would be such a shame to break them hence buying the maiers. They cost me a lot but about $150 AUD cheaper than getting some from the states. I'm going to read the thread on plastic sanding and make a decision.

So I sanded them with 800 wet and dry using bleach. Let them sit in the sun for 3 hours then used cream cleaner and cleaned off with soapy water. Look nice and white now! Thing the bleach and UV from the sun sorted them out. They are a satin finish now, not hi gloss but I prefer that look.

Pay some broke kid to do it.

Yeah thinking along those lines, I wanna go right down to 2000 grit then probably buff them up. Is the best way to buff them with a grinder wool pad or by hand?
