Changing the water pump seal and noisy bearings on my 85 T3.
Anything special I need to know about putting the seal in? Like which way the little lip goes? I vote for bearing side. Thoughts?
Thanks!

Put it in the way it came out? I use honda bond when I install mine. Place a tiny bit on the case, gives the seal a nice clean solvent surfs when installed. Also provides a tiny bit of lubricant... Then it sets and doesn't leak. Thr inside of the seal goes in dry.
Dunno if book calls for an install like that, but I've never had a leakon anything(ATV, car, truck, motorcycle, etc) with a seal after a new one has been installed.
Don't damage any surfaces while removing the old one. You'll. Regret gouging anything. I typically use a wood screw and lightly thread it into the old seal. The pull it out. It's ghetto, but it works if your careful.

I know a lot of the impeller shafts on the ones I had would get grooves in them where the seal rides. I suppose it could be repaired by filling it in with weld and turning it down.
I had to change them I like every motor I ran and dont remember it being difficult at all.
There are links to manuals on page 1 here:
