Bought a Vesrah gasket kit for my rebuild and accidentally tore the crankcase gasket. Anyone know where I can get just the crankcase gasket or am I stuck buying a whole kit?

Nobody? Do I have to buy an entire new set? The aren't available any longer from Service Honda. I can't be the first person to tear a gasket...

if it is only going to see crankcase pressure would a high temp gasket maker work?

Thought about that, but other threads I've read say that the gasket is necessary for proper clearances/tolerances. That, and gasket maker gunking up the inside of the crankcase. With as much as I've got into this build, I'd rather do it right the first time. Just don't want to have to spend more $$ on extra gaskets from another kit if I can help it. Thanks, though!

Hope this don't sound dumb but can you get a full sheet of gasket and take a mallet and gently tap and make the impression, then cut out with a razor

Not dumb at all, but if there's one available (even through having to spend the $$ on another kit), I'll end up spending the money. Too important and too hard to get to once it's all together to not do right.

This is the method i use for every gasket i can. The only time's I buy them is when I'm to lazy and need an entire kit (old turbo K car as example, so many tubes and holes!)

Just use some 3bond/Hondabond/Yamabond on the parts that split as directed on the tube.

It's easy to rip those big gaskets....

Man, Dirt, I just can't do it. I've been trying not to skimp on this project so I can take it out without worry once I get the bugs worked out. I even ripped the rest of the gasket to shreds so I couldn't change my mind.

On the upside, it's going to be nice when it's done.

There's no pressure!! its just a bath.

Oh well...

I get that, totally. But this isn't the bike to try my hand at novice gasket making. I'll post pics when it's done. I think you'll agree.

Not to mention my sanity if I get this thing buttoned up to find a weep of oil that I'll have to tear all the way down again to fix. Not worth the $$ I'd save.
