I just purchased 2 trikes in Louisiana. I'm 1200 miles away in soutwestern PA. Anyone have any advice on shipping? I currently don't have 2 days available to make the trip, but based on the quotes I've received from U-ship, I might have to make time haha.

Waiting will be the cheapest option.
How much do they want to ship?

The first reply was 1200 bucks. I could do it for $400 in gas if I can pick 2 days to make the trip.

I figured thet would have wanted more.
If I charged, I would be going .50 a mile, which was $1200.
If I was you, I'd grab a buddy and go. It'll be a tight weekend. Its a good 20-24 hour drive right? Thats pretty tough on one person if you ONLY have 48 hours to spare
Best bet probably would to leave on a Friday night.

What are the trikes you bought anywho?

I think I found someone from Ohio that can bring them to my area for $700, I may have to jump on it.
I'm a Honda guy, but always wanted the big 3 (wanted a Tri-z and a Tecate to go with my R)...well some dude just sold one of each on eBay and I grabbed em both. My 2 sons both went with me to TF last year and it's going to be cool to get them on the 2 strokes someday also.

Yeah i think I saw both of those for sale on eBay. A white tri z and an 85 green tecate. Seller had them for sale on CL. I think I saw the tecate at around 1600 at one time. They both looked like solid trikes. I figured it would be $500 a trike. I guess prices have gone up over the time since I had one shipped. What did the trikes end at? Were there any bidding wars going on?

Honestly did not think it was that expensive to ship. ($1200.00) Don't get me wrong. I had a friend have a Toyota Sienna van shipped from Tennessee to Southern Ontario Canada for $1000.00. US/Canadian were around par. That was also Duty costs too.

Hope you find a reasonable rate to get your trikes and they are in solid condition. Keep us posted.

The Tri-z was black and red. The Tecate looks like someone tried to paint some of the plastics because some is pealing. I previously haven't paid this much for trikes before but I paid 1900 for the Tri-Z and 2100 for the Tecate. There was a little war at the end...someone had some max bids put in there so I had to keep re-bidding up to the last 5 minutes to find the top spot. Both are getting harder to find and most that I've seen sold have been higher. Hopefully there's minimal work that needs done. The guys says they run like new. We'll see. I think I'll work something out with the Ohio shipper to save me having to use 2 or more days on the trip. I'll keep you guys posted. I wouldn't haul them any cheaper if I did it for a living haha. But you just hope someone is heading your way with another load and get a cheap ride.

Go to your nearest atv dealer and ask them ive shipped many trikes all over from my yamaha dealer for cheap the deal is you have to build a crate which is cheap and they have a trucking company pick them up and ship to nearest dealer near you i shipped 2 tri z from tenn to california for 365 that way

Well, I got my 2 new editions delivered this week! I ended up paying a shipper from Ohio about $600 to ship them from Louisianna to PA. The seller stretched the descriptions just a little bit by saying "everything works as it should". I guess that could mean that since they are 30 years old I should expect to barely be able to pull the clutch in on the Tri-Z and that the Tecate would be really loose, haha. Oh well, we'll get 'em straightened out. I'm satisfied. I'm really glad to add them to my collection. They did start right up and let me put them thru a few gears. The Tri-Z sounds pretty mean, but doesn't seem to wake up until the RPMs get pretty high. Like I said, the Tecate is pretty loose, but it definitely feels pretty snappy. Hopefully they will both make the trip to TrikeFest along with my 250R!236081
