My headlight bezel is shot, don't want to shell out hundreds for a nice one to have to paint it black (my color scheme for my rebuild). Any suggestions?

I should have included that I do want a light. Never know when the ride goes longer than expected.

I new a fella once upon a time who had a 1986 250R with a 350X headlight. It was not just for looks either as it worked.
I have an 85R and tried the same trick. There was no way for me to hook it up due to the plugs being totally different. I thought it looked good for awhile. Then went back to the number plate thing.

I have never seen an R headlight on an X

I have a vested interest in your 350X project as i will have one soon too.
Mine made metal big time in the oil filter.
I have my R project just about wrapped up.
I just need to install a bunch of parts that are waiting on my bench.
Then i pull the motor and investigate.
I am going to give Mega-Cylce a bunch of money this winter.

Looking forward to getting it in the dirt! My 250R is "finished" (are they ever "finished?") and I want a thumper.

Why not go an LED light bar setup?

I like the idea, what extra would it require electrically?

I replaced my beat up stock air cooled 250r head light with LED (done tail light as well with brake light) and couldn't be happier.
Not sure what all is needed on 350x as far as eletrically.
My application was for my 300ex trike conversion that has battery, eletric start, rectifier and basically ready to go . I will get picture of the light mounted inside stock metal gaurd.
Now as far as a option. You want black 350x headlight bezle. I have one left. It is a early proto type that I have not detailed trimming yet. 1 small drill thru hole on top I will repair. Mounting strap area will require some mods to your straps that go thru bezle and lock in with pins and I will included a set .
60 dollars shipped. PM me a text number if interested .
p.s. ~ no other bezles available, no I won't be making more + if Qdude don't want it ain't for sale,,,, just a fyi.
Thanks, john

Here's the led setup on my 500x. Electrical, you will need a regulator/rectifier, cheaply found on amazon, and it is necessary to run a capacitor. Something like 3000 uf. If you'd like I can make up a wiring diagram as this question seems to get asked a lot. But only if you promise to post pictures when you're done ;)

I liked were this was going with some LED info.
There is a fella over in the new members sections wondering about LED lights. Scora7 i believe.
How lucky to get a nice custom X headlight in the right color for the right price.

Well Arlaunch, here is a pic of my led set up inside stock 83/84 250r headlight guard.
There are so many different size of led assemblys available, ,,, just takes some searching (okay, alot of searching) to find something you can work with.
My set up took a little outward bending of mounting tabs.

Depending on how shot your shroud is, you can always cut the middle out and stuff a smaller light bar in it. My shroud was too far gone to restore but not quite completely shot.
You can also find a headlight guard and put a light bar inside of that. Or fab up your mount.
Also go the floating the ground route wth a rectifier/regulator and either battery or large capacitor route.
Here is a write up I did for a 350x specifically on how to float the ground.
Let me know if the link doesn't work, I can email you the actual file from my home computer.
