There's some goodies on that bike! Dg head, boost bottle, aftermarket pipe and those sweeeet tires. Here that would be a 700 to 1,000 trike. You looking to buy it?

Those things go pretty cheap out here on the west coast. I had one that was in decent shape and only wanted 400 for it. 2 months went by and never even got a call on it. I know the guys out east really like them. They go for about double out there.
That one your looking at seems to be very complete and from the pictures, looks to be in pretty good shape. Those rear tires are very desirable and work real good in the sand. Take a look in the gas tank. I don't think Ive seen any without a rust problem in the last 10 years, but that is fixable.

What was the benefit of a boost bottle ? .....i pulled it off my Banshee yrs. ago and never noticed a difference except the space between carbs was offset with the bottle ......
No benefit to speak of really. Snake oil. I would take that off, plug the hole in the intake and hang it on your wall. Nostalgic piece for sure.

A boost bottle is to capture blow back and slowly return it to the intake as the engine needs it. As in the unburnt fuel.
If you have reeds, a boost bottle isn't going to do squat. If you don't have a case reed system, then it's a cheap alternative to a reed intake.
I have a motorized bicycle that has a 80cc two stroke engine in it that doesn't have a case reed system. So unless you wanna modify the piston skirt and all that good stuff to use a intake reed system people usually just opt for the cheap DIY boost bottle system. Even then, it's debatable on how much they actually work.

That oval shaped rubber boot goes on top of the airbox. The 3 bolt front hub is oem for the 81 250r. 82 has the 4 bolt hubs.

I was told by the previous owner that this trike has a big bore stroker kit. How do I tell which one? He was unsure. He said it is probably around 310cc.

Hondaline 300 cylinders have more studs than the stock cylinder. The fins on the head were all larger and shaped different than stock ones too.
You can pull the head and measure the cylinder bore.
Heres a video of one I bought a few years ago with the Hondaline 300cc cylinder. It had a bassani pipe and some kind of aluminim intake with big mikuni flatside carb & other stuff.

Your cylinder looks stock to me, but the head is cool.

The DG gold head has 6 studs and will not fit on the Hondaline 300 kit, which has 7. If it is a big bore it is a bored out OEM cylinder.

Thanks for the info. Must be oem from the the conversation we had. It would need resleeved as it is bored as big as it can go if it needed to be rebuilt.

Got a walk around video for you. Action video later. No one to film for me. I did rip it around the yard in the snow for a little bit. Not enough room to get her out of second gear. Lol.https://youtu.be/7o7FkSJTmNw

The 1st generation R can be built into a fun machine. I decided to go MX and with the short travel suspension it hugs corners like it is on rails. I also have a DG gold head which is higher compression than stock. Mine runs best on a 50/50 blend, half pump gas (91) and half race (110). I got a 21" old school Nankang for the front and put 18" Turf Tamers on the rear--love those tires. My current gearing is 14/34 which favors the low end; it accelerates hard off the bottom but sacrifices a little top end speed. I also scored an NOS Bassani expansion chamber, which is one of the best pipes you can get for the 1st generation R. Here are some pictures.

Nice bike. I would personally ditch the bottle setup and go with an unaltered stock intake boot. you'll be fighting air leaks where the bottle connected to that 34 year old rubber boot. If you want to keep the bottle, find one of the old school aftermarket aluminum intakes and tap that for the bottle. they pop up on ebay from time to time. the alum intakes also use new mikuni snomobile boots (fresh rubber)

If you can find them Honda made pistons up to 76 mill that would work in the stock cylinder.

Sorry guys busy, busy. Thanks for the replies. By the way, cristph, I like your swing arm and rear axle. I would like those on mine. As far as fuel the guy I bought it from said to use 92 or 110 octane. Never thought about 50/50 mix. What oil do you use? What ratio? Mine the previous owner used torco synthetic, and he said he used the 20:1 ratio. Haven't had to mix any gas for it yet.

Started her up today. Little bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust header. Not to bad, but noticeable. Is this just a leak, or do I have a problem. Seamed to go away after she's warmed up.
