Hey guys was riding my 125 today after I just replaced all the electrical wires, stator, coil and fuel lines, it was running good for about a day then i fired it up to take it for a small rip(it started first pull) then after 5 mins went through a small muck puddle and it died, didnt even spin any muck or water, checked the electrical connections for water etc, I even sprayed it down before I started it so I dont think its the water. but I tried starting it and it would sputter and id give it a shot of gas, it would rev then cut out before i could even get it in gear. what do you guys suppose the problem is? Im thinking spark plug, i checked it and the color is matte black almost, is that bad? thanks!

Because it revved and then died, it sounds like the spark is OK. Squirting starting fluid in the spark plug hole and then screw the plug in hand tight and try to start it. If it runs OK for a second or two, the carburetor needs cleaning. Don't forget to retighten the plug once it runs OK, or you will strip the plug hole threads from engine compression.

You think so? I even got a brand new carb on it not even 8 hours of use hardly, got a fuel line filter too, and leading up to this incident there was really no indicator that the carb would be dirty, it revved and idled great.

The troubleshooting step that I suggested is easy to do, why not just try it. It only takes a tiny amount of gunk to mess up a carburetor. One of the most important rules of troubleshooting...start with the easy stuff.

One of the most important rules of troubleshooting...start with the easy stuff.Im so tired of taking carbs apart you dont even know, then i just bought this new one.
The good news is I bought a new spark plug and that seemed to fix it, its running good again.
Thanks for advice though!
