I've had this "junk" 86 X frame for a while now, And it's time to do something with it.
I'd like to stuff a xr500 or 600 motor in it but just don't have the funds to do that.

So here's my current plan.....

Get it all documented with a road legal title and everything, then rebuild the frame, grind out the junk welds and re-weld everything and add gussets and braces in.
The swingarm that's on it now is actually from an 85 and has some strange, cobbled together honda dual piston caliper. I'm thinkin' about extending it 1 or 2" then fixing the brake mounts up good. Sandblast then paint the swingarm and frame up real good lookin'

Next stage involves 2 other bikes, my rebuilt (not original) 86 350x and a 84 Honda Hobbit (I think that's what they call it.) take the motor, electrical, controls, tank, plastics, axle, suspension (race tech upgrades??), the works from it and put on the newly rebuilt frame along with horn(probably mount this in the air box,) turn signals, and brake lights from the Hobbit. All this because I don't want to weld a gusset kit on a clean original 350x frame and because I got the junk frame for $150 I'd only owe $9 in sales tax VS $90 on the clean frame.

If anyone has any input on the legal process that'd be great.

While stripping the frame down on the 350x today I had a REVELATION!!

I have a stripped 300ex frame that's made out of square tubing so I'm gonna use that and replace the nasty pipe on the 350x frame. Anyone ever done this before? Seems like a really good idea! The 350 shoulda been square tubing from the factory.
