Seems some dealers are different. When I needed to get my rear shock charged on my 86 200x, one of the local Honda dealers wouldn't do it and actually told me I needed to get the 3 wheeler off their property, all the while gushing over it and taking pictures. I called another dealer not as close to my house and they were hesitant at first, but then said they would do it. Seems weird there is still that fear over repercussions or something.

I had a local dealer here that would work on certain things but only if I brought the part in. Like some forks I had rebuilt. Wouldn't touch my 350x, when I had it, but fixed the forks when I brought just the forks in. Kinda weird but whatever, got them fixed.

If you are ever in Nebraska, need to check this place out. I live in Kansas City and want to make the 3 hour drive to check it out. I've talked to them on the phone and they are more than happy to work or look at your trike. http://www.kearneypowersports.com/gallery.htm?groupid=32487

I've asked them about working on my 3 wheelers before and they say they're too old. Actually they look at all of my stuff and call it too old and they won't bother with it no matter how many wheels it has. I think very different when it comes to the age of my ATV's; I still think of 2005 and up as brand new but they way they act you'd think I brought in a horse carriage with wooden wheels and asked them to work on it.

Nope, never. I do all of my own work. Machining (boring, honing, etc.) and head work go to a local machine shop. Got a local guy who does shock work out of his garage.

There are not many things you could not do yourself with the help of the folks on here.
A lot of guys have used Schmitdy's racing and Race Tech to do rear shocks and the likes.

Here in the UK, I've never taken a machine for repair but my local dealer is quite happy to order and supply spares. However, I did go to a bike sales center a few years back to get a price for a battery. "Make?" Honda. "Model?" ATC 250ES. "Hmm, is that a three wheeled machine?" Yes. "We will not supply parts for those. Please leave!". Please yourself, I'll go somewhere else get one.

I have never myself. Would the dealer have the right stuff to look at the shock(?). I would think they would but unsure of what the modern rear shocks of say a ATV uses...
I guess it varies from Dealer to Dealer(?) If they have an old tech in the shop he may take it on. There are a bunch of aftermarket places like the link you provided that will work better in your favour.

No problem here; not that I've ever taken anything to them. In fact their parts person has called me to try and source this and that for customers trikes. They've actually let on that they're seeing and hearing of more of them lately. I sold them a nice 84 BR200es that they promptly put on display. They keep asking me to sell my Parrot Green US90 to them, NOPE!

My local shop will glady work on them. They had a 350x in there not long ago for a engine overhaul, liquid 250r is in there currently for carb tuning. My pk 70 was on the shelf there when i first got it home. Owner is a cool guy who has vintage collection.
Kearney in Nebraska is sweet, but if anyone is around the Niagara falls area check out weaver motorsports. Bought a left over still in crate super tenere there a cple years back, Bob has a amazing collection. NEW unrestored 85 tri z. Pallet racking full of street bikes sleds, sleds for the sleds, etc. Old dude was super cool shower me around and said feel free to look around. His salesman said he has triple that amount at his personal building.

The one local to me still does as far as i know, I've seen em in there.
They're also pretty good about rambling around in the back and finding discontinued parts
But they've also been in business since 1960ish...

Good to know as I'm from Niagara Falls, ON. Next time I'm down that way I'll have to pop over the border and check it out; that's if I'm allowed:shiftyeyes:

I will also check out Weaver Motorsprots when I cross the ditch. Hopefully before Trump makes that wall. :)

So far neither of my trikes has needed major repairs. I pulled both motors and took them to an indie mechanic in my neighborhood that works on small engines (atv and motorcycle) and he bored both of them out, put new wiseco pistons in and replaced all the gaskets. Other than that, between my brother and I, we can usually figure it out. I've got the service manuals for both the 200x and 250r, so that makes things easier, as long as you are patient.

honda dealer by me will work on them, since they are so "old" they won't guarantee a discontinued or long back ordered part will prevent it finished and you will pay the how much time they spent on it........parts in a box or together. They had a few 350x's, they had it in the showroom and outside, more as a "show and tell" piece until owner picked it up. It did look nearly new, they said person bought it non running and "tune up" and good cleaning of parts was done performed as owner requested to get it running and ready to ride. I wouldn't be so comfortable about bring my trike there and it being displayed for people to stare at. I did have my atc250r in my truck once when I went there, it wasn't a honda dealer then, but I had a circus of people taking pictures, staring at it and asking about it........last time any of my atvs go there.....yes, trx250r also. Many questioned the ktm front end, what kind of motor is this?, I've never seen gas tank and shrouds that look like this(short track front end), I bet it flips alot, how do you ride this? and the ungodly dumb ones.........how fast is it???? It is atv to the ridden.....hard at mx tracks, not a show piece, spectacle and dumb questions.

Yeah, I still get the same questions and comments from friends or co-workers..."Aren't those banned?", or "Are those the ATVs that flip over and crush people?", or "that looks danderous". So annoying. I'm 44 and have ridden 3 wheelers since I was 10. First was a 1981 110, then a 1984 200s and 200x. Never hurt myself or broke anything. My parents taught my brother and I to ride within our means and always wear a helmet.

The last time I dropped off a complete bike at a dealers was in 1985 for a mandatory 1000km service. It was the Friday before the May long weekend and I had to pay $100 in advance and pick it up after hours off the lot as everyone had left by the time I got there, the key was tucked in the fairing.
As I pulled onto the street to start the weekend one of the carburetor cables came off my just synchronized individual carbs. My next hundred bucks was spent on tools.

The local shop rate at the ATV and motorcycle dealers around here is 95-105 an hour. Not happenin'. At least not out of my pocket

When I brought the 350RX in the bed of my truck after a day of riding, a few of the guys came out and were amazed at the Inverts and all the TRX450 parts I was running. I explained to them what they were looking at, why I made those changes and how I did them....
Now I walk in, (RARELY due to the inflated cost!!), and they remember me as the crazy guy with that sick 3wheeler; Imagine if I had shown them a complete 450 conversion!!

It's hard to pay 75-100$ per hr when your making 20 per. Story of my life.

Yeah I would never go ay a mechanic to do work on my trikes. They are just so simple and easy to work on with a manual. You can get a lot of help on here also as I have found in the past, even tuning carbs over the net has worked for me (FlyinW) is the man!

i do all of my own work also. im in niagara falls ny. bob weavers wouldnt look up parts for my sled because it was "too old". 1980 Enticer. This was about 5 years ago. Hebelers in lockport ny still works on 3 wheelers. they mounted rims and tires for me, knew what it was off of and didnt turn me away.

My local shops will not work on anything older than 1999 and I do not trust mechanics they seem to always be trying to kick you in the balls. We do all of our own work be it car, three wheeler , truck and tractor. Now my local dealers parts staff is great they always are willing to work with me to get the parts i need and they even match internet pricing.
