I am going to mod my 185s with a 12:1 high compression piston and the highest lift web cam that doesn't require any clearance, running race gas with a DG pipe. I will also be using a 200x cylinder for the larger fins and extra cooling capacity bored to a max bore of 67mm which is closer to 200cc.
Should I get an 83-85 200x carb or just rejet my factory carb. I want to retain the factory intake boot and airbox.

A 24mm 200x or 26mm x200 carb would be a decent upgrade, main jet should be around a 115 with that cam and piston set up .

Will the 24 26 and 28mm fit the 185s intake boot?>
I was going to go with a 37mm 200cc bore but the 185cc actual allows higher rpm and possibly more hp for a faster top speed. But the 200cc will have more torque and get there quicker..
Also a clean 200x carb for under 100$ ishard to find. Are any of the ebay knockoffs sellers known to be good if I install the correct jets?

the 200x carb should fit in the boot just fine. I have this carb on my x and it runs greathttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-ATC200X-Carburetor-Carb-1983-1985-NEW-/391722252708?hash=item5b347739a4:g:LGMAAOSwPhdU7Mj 3&vxp=mtr. however you need to put some locktight on the choke flap screws as they like to come loose and find their way into your head.

Get a mikuni vm22. It is a 26mm round slide and it works great, easy to tune, and is about 30 bucks on ebay. I have one on my 200x along with an xr200 intake, which is larger than the 200x intake

A Mikuni VM22 for 30 bucks? Brand New in the box? I'm thinkin' it's a chinese clone of a VM22. I think a "real" VM22 would be in the 60-80 range.
Now I could be wrong, but 30 bucks is pretty cheap for a brand new name brand carb.
Got a link to the ebay listing?

Will the stock airbox fit when using an xr200 intake boot?

It probably is but it's a very good one. I've had good luck with them.

Yes it's the same dimensions except for the inside diameter

I was reading that the XR200 intake boot puts the carb at a different angle than the 200x unless it is the 1984 boot which is discontinued.
