250sx 250es whats the difference

I was gonna purchase a 250es unsure of model but its a parts trike so i was gonna use some parts off of it but unsure if it will hook up right if anybody knows or has done this i would like to know the difference between the two

Your best bet is to list the parts you were thinking of using.

Tires/rim exhuast pipe motor rear end tailights seat maybe the forks but there pretty rusty

Rims may work, but the es had 25x12-9 tires while the sx had 22x11-8 tires. The taillights are different between the two. The head pipes may be the same, but I believe the mufflers were different. I'm pretty sure the seats were different.

Ok thanks for the input so i did decide to get it and a few final things will the splash pan work? also the dash panal and i think ecm will they work or is it different wireing ik the dash is different

What's an ecm on these? Do you mean the cdi? Also what are you calling a splash pan?

Yea the cdi and the skid plate mounts on the bottom to help protect the motor also im short on funds and needing brakes that big red has some on it will they work on the sx gonna be tackling it tomorrow it would be appriciated thanks

So, with a little legwork, you can get all the answers regarding what is interchangeable with what. It takes a little time, but it is very straightforward to look up the parts.

There is a pretty cool feature you can take advantage of on the on-line OEM parts sites.

Navigate to the part you have (by picking the year, make, and model of the machine you have and locate the Honda part number.

For example, the 1985 Honda Big Red 250ES front brake shoes are part number: 06430-HF7-A30

Then, using the same site, just look up the part number itself. At this link: http://www.cyclepartsnation.com/oemparts/c/honda/parts
on the right side of the screen you'll see a search box. Paste in the part number you have and search for it. It will give you lots of hits, but notice that to the far right of the search results, there is another link that says "Where Used"...

I have a 1985 Honda Big Red with a missing Carb. I purchased a less expensive aftermarket and the bike started but would not throttle up. Can someone suggest where I can look for a good quality OEM carb.

Ebay? If not, maybe you can send Flyingw a pm. I know he rebuilds these carbs and does a fantastic job. I don't know if he has any extras or if he would need a core.
