Now everyone just calm down and let us not forget that Jesus Christ is indeed a member of this forum. I have the utmost faith that a being of his stature and experience will be able to sort this all out and come up with a solution that everyone can be happy with.

Permanent Barnett ban?! C'mon! I thought this was just in good fun!
I can't believe how serious you were taking this Barnett, just about everyone else was laughing! I love Barnett, I think he's an asset, but like Bryan said if you get him into a corner watch out! I quoted him a few months back in a similar "non-issue" argument that seemed more like fun for me, but Barnett was serious! The shite storm that followed was amazing to me! Barnett has these little tiny triggers, but if you hit one it's like stepping on a land mine!
I never really cared for lifetime bans but temporary "vacation bans" are sometimes warrented.
I agree with fabiodrivens post almost entirely. Damon and barn when behaving were helpful to a lot of folks........ and a little entertaining. But these crap shows are ALWAYS...ALWAYS...ALWAYS...ALWAYS!!! caused by someone taking the bait. I've too at times felt a little frisky and engaged folks all the while knowing I will be part of the problem. When you don't engage them it never happens. Ironically you have all the power over them and you steer them in the direction you want!
Indy has the right to confront barns or glamy or whomever. When he keeps going.......it......keeps going. If he stops early....it goes away.......simple

You can't go running your mouth to a guy whom you just so happen to be feuding with, call the mods puzzies, and not expect it to be used against you in the court of forum law. Then when you get called out on it, start back pedalling like a biatch trying to play the victim. Barns' not as smart as he claims, talking stupid about the mods via pm with someone he isn't friends with. Come on barn, use your superior intellect.
I'd actually have respect for Barn if he would have owned it. Instead, he got caught acting like his usual Teflon Don self with his pants down and Indy put the final nail in his coffin. Now he's left to use one of his other profiles, or create a new one and wait out his probation period to start over again.

Oh really? But yet all the times both of them were banned and came back either legitimately or underhandedly, they both resumed their jackazz behavior in short order, after "playing nice" for a little while to try to convince everybody that they had changed their habits.

ya, tho the boring head makes it sweet ( the 50lb silver thing hanging off the mill, above the yellow wheel)
I have never used an automatic boring head until this one. it has autofeed in the x direction (in or out) or you can dial it in with the crank to the left side all with the mill running/turning.
For example, the mill is running/spinning the cutter but the boring head is stationary. You dial in your cut a few thou, hit the z auto feed on the mill and bore to depth. Then, reverse out of the cut on rapid then dial in your next cut all without powering down.
It will also auto feed across a surface, say fly cutting a head or cut an o-ring groove by dialing in or on auto. Taper bore, just match the z axis feed on the mill with the x feed on the boring head.
With cnc, this is easy now. I guess, back in the day, this cutting head was the cat's meow.

Your points are valid scoot.......and so are the others........ it's just a differing opinion I have that's all......... and a different experience.
I knew my post wasn't going to be all that popular based on the "scorched earth" tactics that Damon and the bot do. And yes......... I see it elsewhere as well.
But I've never had a problem with either. I may have had some cross words once or twice with Damon or bkm but you could count that on one hand.......even on other forums.
It goes away eventually but if they get out of line....a moderator can step in and give a "time out".......simple

Allegedly 2 dB quieter , and its more imo , and 700$ vs the Honda 3000is about 1800 to 2100 depending on model (sport vs park)
Weighs a little more (100lbs vs 89) but so far it’s been good. No issues even with the ac and the microwave going. Still pretty new so can’t speak on the long term. I did buy the warranty 140$ extra but it’s 2 years anything goes wrong they replace it on sight. No fixing. One time use only but seems like it was worth it.

Just curious, I haven't worked in a machine shop in 30 years or so. Back then the boring heads we used you had to stop the spindle to adjust the cut. It's very possible that the type of boring head you have was available but the shop I worked in didn't purchase them.

I, and most sane people are unable to even process the ideas people like you have. No moderators, dont throw anybody out? But you consistently complain about immigrant tweakers ruining things around where you live. That is true liberalism. The fact you glamy or anyone else, woud take pride in trying to piss people off is worthy of psychological evaluation in most cases.
Why would anybody want to wake up one day and think, I want to jump on the internet and piss people off? People see right through it. Some like to engage and take the bait from time to time..I am guilty of it..
There are certain people on this planet that just want divide, fighting, teasing, bullying, insulting. The internet has made that easy as now they do it in a venue they can be hidden and anonymous less they dare to do it in the real world.
I think everybody on the planet has seen what happens with trolls when it is time to reap what they have sowed. They land on their friggin head usually and with good reason. I have seen the worst internet enemies get on a ride somewhere and they either hang out and be like "ya I just bust balls", or they absolutely avoid each other. One avoids because they are the coward, the other avoids cuz he dont wanna go to jail...The trolls never come up to a member and say the personal trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro and insults they say in the message board, because they are quite aware they will get jacked in the fuggin jaw. So which guy will you be in real life?
It is a mental disorder. Purposely trying to stir trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. Everybody does it to some level, but most usually stop or draw a line when it gets out of hand..
You dont piss me off glamy..you got a purdy mouth boy..
I like to bait you into intellectual conversations, but you bail, because you can't be intellectual..That is my way of trolling you back, and it pisses you off....Tell Nancy P we said jump off the end of the murderous pier you flakes are so protective of throwing people out of.....paddle faster boy, I hear banjos in the distance

Buckels and colleagues are continuing to investigate everyday sadism, including its role in online trolling behavior.
“Trolling culture is unique in that it explicitly celebrates sadistic pleasure, or ‘lulz,’” says Buckels. “It is, perhaps, not surprising then that sadists gravitate toward those activities.”

Oh , also it’s great cause it has electric start with a pull start back up. You don’t need the battery in it at all to use it but the electric start is a nice option. Mine starts easy and does the job quietly. I will say it has a nice vibration if you put it on your actual trailer ( mine has a platform of sorts ) so I bought some rubber isolator pads 6” x 6” and placed them under all four corners and now the vibration is gone even under load.

Is it really a lot cheaper than the honda? i find honda gennys to be outrageously priced. but they are dependable. I have an iPower 5500 watt and i love it but it is loud. Im planning on building a small insulated shed and running the cord to my garage. i only use it for 220v stuff like my welder.

The comparable Honda ,the Honda eu3000i , has two models one is 1800 and there’s a lighter one with a smaller gas tanks for 2050,and when somebody finds a different price please don’t correct me I’m just recalling when I looked and I could be off a little or you found a better deal , the predator is closer spec wise to the less expensive Honda ,weight fuel tank size etc , but still only costs 699$ and the warranty was 140$. So far no issues, it’s quiet efficient and powerful. But again I haven’t had it for very long and only a little use.

Scooter/iron= D’andrea came out with this head in the 50’s. I think they went to a red handle in the 70’s. They are still made but cnc has put the hurt on them. There is still something cool about full manual control and sneaking upon a bore. I read that someone ressearched buying a head in ‘06 and it was 7k. I was less than 10% of that, a very good deal.
Bkm, I have a lot of pain when I look at the picture of those Jetskis. My first kidney stone attack came after riding one of those. I bought it maybe 10 years ago and rode one for the first time. All the pounding must’ve shook down stone and later that night I was in excruciating pain. I thought I pulled a muscle in my back but the nausea didn’t make sense. I thought it was just due to the pain! It was misery. Maybe I’ll get another one someday (je ski, I’ve had 2 other stones)

I find it very relaxing to go for our morning stroll no matter what the temp. I fix up my cup of Bailey's and coffee, and off we go. Mornings like this, -15 again at 6 am, it's deathly quiet when you stop and listen (otherwise the snow squeaking under your feet ruins it), except for the occasional sounds you'd hear in the woods at that time of the morning. Yesterday morning there was a pair of Barred owls calling out to each other, at times they do this crazy call that sounds almost like monkeys. This morning there was a pack of coyotes celebrating a kill off in the distance. Both mornings you could hear the occasional cracking/popping of frozen tree branches. The best part was this weekend we had a full moon, So we could see deer off in the distance in the woods watching us walk by.

248949248950248951248952My dad had a 110 lb Akita that would melt the snow under her, get up and find another spot to melt. She fell asleep on the deck while it was snowing and it completely covered her one day. The dog wouldn't come in even if you tried to bribe her with treats and when she would finally come in, she'd lay in front of the wood stove until she was almost on fire. That dog was a trip.

Shep the Tecates take like 11 grommets, iirc for the tank, rads, fenders and headlight. Been a while since i looked at those...... Its all the same one. I could send you one and you could start a Tecate grommet empire! They have one side thicker than the other i believe and that may have to be that way. All i get to do to mine is take them apart and collect parts, not put them back together, that's just how it is.
Just know ya could become a hero in the mean green force!
Can you make just rubber or poly grommets also? Poly might not be the best for T3 vibration though.

Those grommets i made are silicone rubber there pretty soft
I like the urethane rubber for grommets i think the best, i just didnt have any
But both materials can be bought with a more dense feel
I used urethane rubber to make these 200x kicker pads and except for a cleanup on the edges i wouldnt be able to tell the difference between the stock or re-made one 249024 249025

I just won’t step on jeswineharts toes if he’s made or planning on it, well you know what i mean.
I think i enjoy making the mold itself more than the actual part but its all fun.
We’ll chat soon,,
Oh- the blue grommets in the other pics are nothing they were just made from the left over tailight plastic mix, i have made some odd things with the leftover mix instead of just dumping it.

Byron Hines of Vance and Hines fame had Rick Ward (his former apprentice) build a 3 plug head for his 1327cc Yamaha FJ Pro Stock bike. According to Rick it was key to getting the engine to make the power it did. I saw the head from the outside once, total abortion and cool as all heck all at the same time. Think about it, 86mm bore with 3 plugs and 4 oversized valves stuffed into the dome.

On a 200cc engine I wonder what the parasitic loss of powering the second ignition system is VS the gain. The drag bikes run total loss systems, so it’s irrelivant.

My buddy has the Africa twin. I have a super tenere, they both have their pros and cons, the 21" front wheel on the Africa is great, the s-10 has more power. Any questions ask. I always thought that what may make a dual sport bike better for me personally would be a little more weight....a little more cc and 2 cyliders. However the ADV niche has blown up and so have machines making up the genre. Loaded for bare 650lb off road bikes?
Ironically the AT and the Super T are the 2 bikes I'm looking at. I've passed on the GS or KTM or the Multistrada.......those are boutique bikes to me.

Well, the AT feels more Moto bike esc, as it is a little skinnier feeling with the radiators mounted kinda like mx bike, the super t has a big tank, with a side mounted rad, ( the cooling fan is junk, if you bump the side panel the fan will go out.) I'm working on alternative tan setup. The front wheel on the AT is 21" super is a 17"(I think) big front wheel is great off road. I ruined the front wheel on mine and was going to convert but it was going to be a royal pain and super pricey. I like both bikes, the super t does have noticably more power, but I wish I had the bigger front wheel.
Ktm was out of the picture for me, as the closet dealer is a few hrs away, I really wanted a gsa, but they are 27k and really huge. And to test ride one you have to fill out paperwork, make appointments, and drive 2-3 hrs just to look at it. I previously had a BMW k1200 touring bike, had a 185k on it when I gave it to my buddy. I would have rode that ugly turd to Alaska. Only let me down once.

I understand that the AT is down on power compared to the others and way down to the KTM and Super T. But coming from an old 93 DR650 it's going to feel like night and day on the freeway. Since everyone is driving 80mph on the freeway and my 650 tops out at 95 - 97 mph......a pass was always labored for my big single at high speed.........hence why I always thought an extra cylinder and some cc would be nice for the highways.

Your right on the inner one.
I cleaned the comutator and the brushes then I polished. When I reinstalled it worked for awhile then stopped.
The nice thing is the rectifier/regulator is built into the generator. All of 2 wires and a fuse makes up the entire charging system so my thought was a failing/failed rectifier. I even bypassed the wiring harness and still nothing.

This next one (yup green) i added 80grams more mix, it filled up/squished it down and just a little came out the vents/ from what i can see it looks full, i’ll find out in about an hour.
I have to find me a big heavy book instead of these items.

Drained the gas from the tank and carb. Installed new gas. 2 pulls and it fired up. Runs great. :)

Well i was going over the bike for a ride in NH tomorrow, a few loose bolts, topped off the oil (everything is ready)!!!!
Then as i was loading it i figured hmmmm i’ll check the brakes.. their gone nothing left, (china pads) replaced them in the late fall and this bike doesn’t see many miles. So i go in the house search around and find “more” china pads luckily. So i have an hour of daylight to swap brake pads front+rear. Fun stuff!!!
I guess its good that i checked them but maybe its time i invest in better pads! Was having a great day until now.
(Just venting)249556
Edit —- brakes done, front pads are snug (not tight) only slight rubbing on the rotor but hopefully will break in ok, im thinking they will. I hope

Oh, that... i put a thin layer of grease around the axle nuts and splines then just wrap it with electrical tape. Its just a thing i do/ keeps it all nice in there. I figure these axles are a dying breed so whatever i can do to help w/corrosion i guess.
Long story short is it keeps the water out, just a habit i guess.

Interesting idea. Does the tape become impossible to remove when it’s time to service the axle?

Nope not hard to remove at all. It lasts about 5months the tape dries up and probably would fall off on its own in 6months- Been doing it for a long while, whenever i remove an axle it all comes apart nicely and just as clean as it went together. I always wanted to try like a 2” heat shrink tubing but elec tape is always nearby.
(Just have to make sure your not trapping moisture in there) i tend to overthink things, this maybe over doing it but hey it works for me

I pulled the antler out of the tire in the woods because it was beating the sh!t out of the fender and drove home, put the antler back in the hole and took a pic since I didn't have my phone with me on the ride, then I finished putting in a fresh spark plug, pulled the wheel, took the tire off of the rim and patched, not plugged, the hole. It's also rather obvious from the pic that I wasn't in the woods when the pic was taken.
If you look even closer at the pic you can see the tire tracks end where I stopped rolling the wheeler backwards to find the hole.
Yes coolpool the bearclaw is a 6 ply tire, my neighbor and I were both surprised that the antler punctured the tire, I guess a sharp point is a sharp point, as opposed to a blunt end stick.

I'm just not a fan of tire plugs. I've never really seen the sense in pulling something out of a hole just to stick something back in, unless I'm in bed with a female of the opposite sex.....
I do carry a plug kit and a can of "Fix A Flat" when we're on all day trail rides just in case of an emergency, but I swap the plug out for a patch when I get home. Part of my anal retentive side I guess :) My local home based tire guy refuses to use plugs and patches all tire repairs.
The antler puncture happened about 1 1/2 miles from the house, the neighbor and I went out for a little spin, only took a couple beverages each. No phones, no cameras, electronic gadgets, etc. Just out in the woods tooling about on trails that have been made on the properties around my neighborhood, as well as going "off trail" and just puttering thru the woods. Patched the tire up after I got home. :beer

I’ve got a couple different things going on today,
First my molds are all rubber of some sort and i’m at the bottom of a few containers so what the heck i’d try a solid plastic mold to make a rubber part. I didn’t think i would need mold release but i sprayed the red side only and i shouldn’t have.
Actually worked very well (next time no spray) u can see where it affected the outcome.
249984 249985 249986
Next-different subject-
When we built my sons bike and the only front sprocket i had was a 11tooth. (No speed) or not enough. He’s putting on the stock 13tooth today. He rides this bike but its also the bike i take to NH. So a little more speed is needed-ha249983
Next- is a question?
My or (the wifes) green framed auto 200x has a 83/84 250r rear axle, with a 42tooth rear sprocket, it needs i’m thinking a 36tooth (1st gear is super low) and it needs a little more speed also.
So my question is there’s Aluminum rears on ebay that’ll work BUT will the aluminum sprocket hold up for everyday riding?
Jd110- what did you hit? Nice you found a replacement door!! Same color and all.
Have a great day!

Welp, yesterday I had planned on doing a little wrenching and then going for a ride. Pulled the Outlander 400 into the garage to warm it up and put the battery back in, rearrange some badly routed wires from the previous owner, coupla other odds and ends. Fired it up and pulled it outside to warm up, went inside, suited up, came out and it had stalled. :wondering tried several times and it wouldn't start. fack me
So I said F-it and went down to grab the three wheeler. Didn't want to start, it was like 0 degrees and I hadn't driven it in awhile, she gets stubborn under those conditions. f me. Pushed it up into the garage to warm it up. 45 minutes later I went out and she started on the first pull. :naughty::w00t: Roll it outside and start to suit up. Again. Head out to the car to grab my Carhartt bibs. Slipped on ice landed on my back with my right elbow out, jacked up my shoulder pretty bad, FFS! Pondered heading out for a ride. Then I thought, ya know what? Apparently this ride wasn't supposed to happen. Wait! Maybe just a little......, nah, shoulder ain't moving very well and hurts like a mf'er. grrrrrrr!
Shut the wheeler off, went inside, grabbed a heating pad and a beer and plopped down in my lounger. Stiff shoulder this morning, hurts like a bich, hard to get my arm above my shoulder. Looks like I'll have to spend the day keeping my shoulder moving so it doesn't stiffen up too much. Fack! I hate being wounded!

Do I have rights to remain silent, now? Lol-NO!
It was my mistake for trying too much at once. 1 task at a time for me. So I can't load stuff in the back seat, push it out of the garage (so it doesn't fill the place with fumes🤣), while talking on the phone.
Not sure if you can see the stack of tires through the window but the door got hyper-extended there. So now you have it. Haha dumb-dumb me.
Funny because I didn't want to, but did, buy the manual back in '02 on Dad's recommendation and whenever he wants to help, he's saying 'get that book!'

What grit do you go down to before you start polishing? I ask because I had never gone finer than 2000 before, but on my latest project which was black I couldn’t get rid of the cloudiness until I used 3000 grit and wow did it ever make a difference in the final product.

I usually start at 2000. Every now and then 1500 when I'm messy but with Meguiars 105/205 system it usually does fine.

Looks like nice living....not having a neighbor right next to you. Is your one neighbor with the trash/cuttings still giving you grief?
Its a nice area, the mass pike (highway) is about 1/4 mile away through the woods so at times you can hear the noise. The street we live on is kinda steep so when its snows no-one uses it.
Oh ya that neighbor.... he wont even make eye contact with me, i’ll wave but he looks the other way. The folks in this area usually live here about 5yrs then move on following work or companies they work for so hopefully:naughty: he’ll be one of them.
When it does snow, atleast one car ends up off the road on this corner, steep downhill and a sharp turn to the left, they just dont slow down. 250358 vehicles just end up on another neighbors lawn generally w/no injuries.
Hope to live here until i cant afford the TAXES anymore. Then move somewhere warm....
I just cant seem to load upright pics today, hmmm
My son AJ spent all day outside playing in the snow burned through half tank of gas. He’s doing donuts like a pro!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't even know if that is sealant, right? Maybe the guy's ex got upset when she found a long dark hair in his b*tch lid and dumped something nasty into the tank? Was the petcock screen clean?

I'm a Caswell Sealer virgin so I hope my first time is a good one.
Your right.....I really don't know if it was a sealer but it coated the entire tank.....which led me to believe it was......which along with you I never heard of it back then.
What I've been doing is using lacquer thinner and placing the tank in various positions as to help loosen it so I could pull it off. But it seems to have caused rust everywhere so I will have to deal with that prior to the Caswell. There are some areas way in the front that will have the old sealer in it forever as it just seems impossible to clean entirely.

Well, hopefully with the better weather coming i’m going to get back into casting aluminum. My first project is doing front master cylinder covers- “but” i need a plastic mold first. The inner core and two outer split mold pieces, i’ve got the core done. When i’ve finished the plastic mold it will be converted to aluminum, drill/ tap for a nipple and use a mini grease gun to inject rubber.(well Maybe) venting could be interesting though.
Havent really figured it all out yet- but i know mine at 30yrs old are nearing the end of there life so....
Used the very last of my mold rubber to make a headlight pin mold/ just making a few for myself. But this mold works great. Kind of complicated mold but im happy w/result. John u did /tried these in the past i think i read but i couldnt find it again but i know its there somewhere. 250600 250601 250602 250603 250604 250605
Thanks for looking,
Also put an order in for more headlight shell plastic yesterday. So i can play with those again.
Also going through a nasty head cold at the moment- yuk
Happy saturday!!!

I’m trying to cut some threads on a piece of 15mm round bar stock. It was cutting a little bit at first, now I can’t get it to cut anymore. I’m using cutting oil and going slow, I used a small pick and q tip to clean the die but it won’t cut any more. :wondering
This end came slightly tapered that im working on. The bar measures 15mm, and my die is 15mmx1.5mm. Does anyone have experience with cutting threads?

I don't have a metric equivalency chart only standard but I'm thinking that the stock is too big for the threads you want or the die is stripped....Then again i don't work with metric size stuff much and you may not have to worry about thread percentages and such....eager to learn this myself.

I can turn the bar down a little more, earlier I had to remove a little material to get my bearings to fit. Mabey I should set up my lathe again...lol... I just don’t want to take off too much material. The die and 15 x 1.5 mm nuts came off the slow boat from China, it took forever to get here.

You probably are still a little big on the OD
On external threads, refer to the "Major Diameter" section and the "max" and "min" column.
Max is the largest OD (outside diameter) you should thread at and the min column is the minimum outside diameter for threading. Any smaller than minimum will give you sloppy fit.
To convert from millimeter to inch:
Millimeters ÷ 25.4 will give you the inch decimal equivalent.
Inches x 25.4 gives you the millimeter equivalent

On using dies to thread, also be very sure your die is square to the rod you're threading. If I thread external with a die, I'll Chuck it up in the lathe and use the tool post or similar to make sure my die is square to the rod

I don’t have a real lathe yet, but I did buy the same size tap m15 x 1.5mm. It came with a pilot bit that is 13.5mm. I also bought (8) m15 x 1.5mm nuts for the axle when it’s finished.
I tried turning the nuts on to the tap to see how they fit, interesting to find that they do not fit. I will remove more material off of the bar to see how the die cuts in the morning.

In the pic where you're measuring the die with the caliper, that's not going to give you the diameter. It needs to be measured across the center.

Dang things have gone up in price since I got mine 3 years ago. I got mine for 80.00. My only complaint is that the platform doesn't have room for 2 tanks. At least not yet.....:naughty:

Ya
Thing is a beast (430wr), trying to trade it away. Way too much for me on my trails. Need more of a rokon, 200x or 350x

I've been harboring a big boner for that bike since the first time I've seen it. I'm tempted to offer you my 650 for it but in reality I should just sell the 650 and take the money for it.

I just might take you up on that, thanks!
I'm playing with one of my favorite toys today, my antique BobcaT snowthrower. It's not a very popular hobby, lol.

Nice!
I always get jealous of folks who can get out ride...right out of their home. If I did that here someone would call the police.

I super glued my carburetor today.
All this talk of....."XRs are the best!".......and "DRZs are heavy because of a radiator and E start and a burrito"...........and..."DR650s suck!" I used Johnny Weld and it was great...and fast. It cured instantly and I think for this external copper plumbing for the choke.....will work fine.
