Tiger Thursday

Yesterday I was humbled and honored to see my 200 Tiger prototype race bike I started working on in around Oct 1985-March of 1986. There were so many little things I seen I did that I had forgot about, but then there were thing that had been changed too that wasn't done by me, such as a longer swing arm and some one had put the different rake plate and the adjustable front end kicking it out too far, but for the most part it was all there. But then as I started looking at all the rest of the collecting I see my first Factory 250 that had the new frame with the rake where it should have been and someone had put my rev. cyl. in it so the pipe came out the rear of the cyl. and the side mout carb, which wasn't done right but those were all my race parts. I had taken both these bikes to San Jose in 1986 for my first National. The sad part was I tried to clear a small set of jump and landed on the second on in practice on the 200 and got knock out when the bike landed on me splitting my sternum and was unable to race. We found out later that the blue prints showed something like 10 inches of travel in the rear and I lowerd the bikes down 4-5 inches, but we really only had about 8 inches, so when I hit the second jump it bottomed out hard.

This was the second load of them a guy from OR. was picking up from NY, and he stopped by my place here in PA. to sign some papers and 3 of the machines, 2 which I had rode and worked on while I worked at the factory as the R&D manager. That was the most I ever got paid to sign stuff! LOL

They were all restored recently by a board member.

For what he paid I think they should have all run and been put back the way there were. He is going to make some changes to make them more correct. But over all there was a lot of work done just to get them to this point.

Your so dumb, the kick starter started slipping on him a little. I told he I would fix it if he sold it. You can't tell the truth if you had to. lol This is what it looked like inside when I built it.

For a guy that follows me around just to talk crap you think you could get the facts right, but since your such a dumb ass I guess that just isn't going to happen.

You know I have never did anything to you. You blamed me for a pipe I told you to buy, then it didn't work because you had them build a full race pipe with a spark arrester in it and killed the power. Then I only found this out after I sold the pipe for you to my customer Jim, then I found out what you did. I took that out of the pipe and now the customer has a bad ass 502cc monster. All this was nothing but me doing right by you, what a loser!

Wrong again, like I told you before it's the same size head pipe as the DG pipe. I flowed it on my flow bench, it could breath as good as my 200x pipe. You must really have something wrong with you that you can't understand the simple truth, they messed up the pipe, it couldn't run on a stock bike, the DG pipe was better because it didn't have the restictor in it.

It's hard for me to understand people like you, just can't hear the truth, it's like you watch the news on every chanel but Fox, and you believe the lie, you drink their coolaid! I feel sorry for people like you, I really do.

Well when I'm wrong I admit it, I just looked them up and they have came down from $70 to just over $35, you are right, I didn't pay that but they are that now, I better stock up while they are so cheap!


But the stainless head pipes are a step pipe and they are mine, I sell it as a kit for $225.

Please show me where I said I didn't use that muffler, I said I didn't pay $35 for them, never did. I had 20 of those head pipes bent up, then I have to get the flange made, and the insert for the front. Try making all that for $225.

I didn't lie about anything, show me one thing. The mufflers went down 50%, I can't change that. But what I did say is that I was wrong when I checked them just now. It's not hard to tell the truth if you are wrong, just have to be a man about it. And again the pipe is not a Al Baker , it's mine, it was first made for a better head pipe to fit the DG meg. and it made 1.7 hp difference, now with that muffler and making it shorter to match my new cam it makes 1.5 more HP in the mid, the top end stayed the same. I spent all day just testing pipes to build the best one I could. I even have a new one that I'm building. Always trying new things.

No far from it, there is only one that was perfect, that would be Jesus since everyone wants to talk about him, if I was perfect I wouldn't have needed Christ for the forgiveness of sin, but we all do. The good thing is I took him up on His free gift to us all and asked him into my heart and he saved me. Even know I make mistakes, sin and do things I shouldn't do just like everyone on this earth, I'm forgiven, I don't have to worry about where I go when I die.


Another pipe I'm working on, oh and yes lets not leave out my 350x pipe.

Problem was I only got to stay one day, worked on a lot of trikes for 12hours for free , just because it was fun, and signed a lot of stuff, but my cat got killed so I went home to be with my wife to comfort her.

Oh and Ditch won a bunch of races on my 200x engine.

This had the start to an awesome and historical thread. I can't understand why someone would open it up to attempt to trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro on a legend who in my experience has given more advice and free information than anyone out there and is one of the few people keeping three wheelers alive in 2017. Even if he made a mistake so what? Sounds like he handled it like a man. Mickey thank you for everything from the trips down memory lane to the new r and d you do on these bikes. To anyone trying to sully his name on a public forum instead of contacting him directly shame on you. Grow up.

You know every time I come on here like this to show some history that none of you know anything about, but I share it only to have the same jealous haters raise up against me. I'm just glad that I do have Christ in my life to give me peace when this always happens. There are many who give advice and free info...this site and it's creator is a testament to that. Trikes are alive & well in 2017.
I don't have a horse in this race but IMO vanity is a turn off.

Well I for one appreciate the trips down memory lane. As a guy who owns and appreciates the older bikes it's very interesting to hear about it from someone who was there. Keep it coming Mickey and I'll always be a fan.

Sad! I don't come onto the site much anymore or post up the stuff I have, not that my love for 3 wheelers has died but the constant bickering and negativity. None was ever directed to me but just in this story alone.
The build of the Tigers by OC was nothing short of amazing! Here was a man that with countless hours (none of you know how many hours he spent) and money invested running down leads on where the 3 wheelers were and then the cost to acquiring them. Once he started the restoration, the cost to have everything redone! The time just to source the parts would have been more than anyone else here would have been willing to spend towards the project. Remembering that the Tiger was a bast@rd 3-wheeler that nobody made aftermarket parts for.
To top that all off he was building all 4 of the Franks 3 wheelers that I sold him, a custom hand crafted 3-wheeler that was impossible to get parts for. And to top it off a Cagiva!
Mickey, if everything wasn't the way it was when you had them, there isn't any reason to diminish a man’s work or point out faults for doing the amazing work he did. To the other members here bashing Mickey... What is a matter with you guys? Mickey has been around for a long time and done amazing work! He is one of the guys that has been in this since the beginning and managed to stay with it. He has continued to build and innovate products that have been available to us since the mid 80's. Try getting Curtis Sparks to talk to you a 200X motor, must less waist his time to build one! Most of these guys will look down at you like they have ascended and won't even think of wasting their time talking to you about a 3-wheeler. Mickey has been great in talking to anyone that will ask him a question, he'll entertain building something just to try it, he's tried to put together bulk buys to get people to make what’s not available... So before bashing somebody, are you trying to call someone out to get attention? Or are you doing the best for the machines and the sport you like by running your mouth and causing people to stay off the site????

This is the problem writing things on the net, if you re read what I said some things had been changed, the bike was sold so things got changed, I didn't in any way mean to knock OC in anyway. The 250 the way I understand it from the new owner came with the cyl. and carb that way, not that OC did it. Never the less the new owner is flying me out to OR. to address the small changes and to have a show out there once everything is returned the best we can.

I did not rip this kid off. I was given a motor that needed a new gear box, it wouldn't have made another lap. The crank was bad along with the clutch basket and many other parts he didn't pay for. I gave him a free carb kit and pipe above the $1000 plus off his motor, and his Dad got mad over nothing so and wouldn't answer me back, so I said we were done, I wasn't going to sponsor someone like that. He also got over $1500 off his motor, but refused to even talk about it which is a big deal. Even customers that pay for their motors can't wait to tell everyone. The only one he told anything about it was me, he called right away telling me how it would blow off any 450r he has rode. Talk about getting ripped off, HA! I lost over $2500!

Right, I had been asked and asked to show up, so I did. But don't worry, the way my business is I haven't been to any of the races, I haven't even been able to work on my race bikes, I don't think I will make it to the nationals nor Trike Fest, so you don't have to worry about me doing it for business I can't keep up now, and sorry to say it's not 3 wheel work, it's Kawasaki V-Twin work , plus Warriors, 300ex, 400ex ect. ect., all quads. 3 wheeling is some thing I do for fun. I like building faster stuff then we had back in the day.

You were not here, you do not know what was said between us and you don't know what I did. You don't see me talking about it unless someone wants to bring it up. I'm glad he is gone, I don't deal with people like that. If they want to make up things , go a head. The other day some one said he missed his race, but then I had already see pics hole shoting the first 20 foot off the line over Ditches 250cc kit, so I think it runs pretty good, in fact at the last national on the first lap he was right on Ditch, so he got way more then he paid for. I don't care about the money, just putting the facts out there if someone wants to talk about it. Oh and I'm not saying the kick start spring isn't letting it come back up, and they should have brought it back so I could fix it. I only kicked it half way down on the bench and it worked, so from what he said when it went down all the way it wouldn't return, that's all I know, he wouldn't talk to me so I gave up on him when he acted like that. You can try to do the right thing, but you can't force them to bring it back or to talk to you. So as always you just repeat gossip, and that's not even close to the truth.

You did not catch me in any lie. LOL Yes I have great respect for Tom, and Curtis, great guys, and both of them have had problems with customers, no one is perfect. I'm so glad you are with out sin so you don't go to hell. Remember even if you think there is no God , He see's all. I answer to Him, not as my judge but as my savior and Lord. So if I do something wrong and don't at least try to do the right thing, He takes me to the wood shed, I don't have to even worry about people like you, what you think really doesn't matter. Dude if I were you I wouldn't worry about religion, I don't like religion, religion starts war, causes people to go to hell, is negative and there is nothing good about it IMO. A relationship with Jesus through what He did on the cross is the only thing that matters. People like you don't even understand that. So I went back again and re read what I said. Sorry but the new owner though it was worth his time and money to make the trip to my place to get my opinion on the machines and he was here 6 hours as we went over everything. No where did I say OC did a crapy job or put him down in any way, he did the best he could. This was a very hard job to do to even get them this close. But I built them the first time, I was there, I did it. And if that bothers you with your petty thinking and jealousy maybe it's your problem. This is a part of my history that I shared with this site because I know more about what's what then anyone, does that make me wrong, no!. And that's what starts crap every time I get on here. I've only been in the trike world for a couple of years. The only interaction I've had with Dunlap was a negative one on FB. He was condescending and arrogant. I've built an '87 SX and a '86 350X from ground up with absolutely no help from that guy and they both turned out outstanding. There were tons of questions...all answered by the great folks on 3WW. So, if you, Dunlap, are the quintessential guru of all things tree-wheelah, why are you not involved in my builds, why are you hated by a ton of folks, why haven't I've ever heard of you, why are you a prick, why haven't you made me a sandwich, and why do you continue your BS?

Thank you for taking the time to tell me how you understood what I said, that's a problem with only communicating on the internet, one person takes it one way another take it another way. I believe the first part is either about the axles or my fenders, in which I asked people if you are not ready to buy these products now don't email for a quote because the prices change in shipping and it takes time to give out quotes if your not ready to buy. My wife works a full time job, in fact works at least 2 hours over time everyday so when she does get home then she does the shipping and quotes for shipping, which 9 out of 10 don't buy. So since this is my business and it's just me and my wife doing what took another company I worked for 10 people to do the same amount of work time control is very important so I only answer the phones 3 hours a day. Both on these reasons get rid of most of the looie lues. I do answer every e-mail, answer every FB message and answer every call everyday I'm here. It is my business and that's the way I run, have for 30 years.

Now as far as the flight school I believe that was about my web site or just trying to answer every question about every kit I offer. Most of the time I ask that you call me because I can give more and better answers on the phones so all this helps the customer get what he really needs. Most customers start out wanting the biggest baddest engine I have, but they can't afford it and it's not really what they need. Now this is how I have answered questions like this since the internet. I never learned to type so it takes a lot of time, my grammar isn't good and I don't spell check everything, so it's very time consuming. Bottom line is I'm always behind on work, this is my business and it works for me. I'm not for everyone, I send customers to other builders all the time or I just have to turn down work because I don't like the pressure of having too much work. This year I have to miss all the races I wanted to go to and Trike Fest which really makes me mad, but it's customers first.

You're correct about the derailment of your posts. I see it in those that I've read. This post started out as a very interesting read. I've never seen a modern pic of a Tiger and I know nothing about the bike. I clicked on the link you provided, did a little reading, and even went back over the pics you included to try and pick out the things you noted. It was very interesting and I'd like to learn more about Tiger.

I would suggest rather than starting a new thread with hopes that it will go in your favor, go back through some of the old stuff and pick out maybe a time or two that you were wrong. Not so much in the sense of facts about whatever pipe or swidget you placed, fixed, or tuned, but in the way you carry yourself while interacting.

You've replied to what I thought was a open door, if you will, to admit to just a smidge of fault in why people hate, lie, BS, blah blah, as you put it.
