Well I've made a little progress on the 84 250R. Painted the frame last week, stripped down the Westcoast swinger and replaced the pivot bearings, now that was a job! Yesterday I set in the motor and spent the better part of the day today hooking up the swingarm and Fox shock, the front end is off a 85 250r. Hopefully by the end of the week it will be a roller!!!!

Looking pretty wicked. Going to be one sweet ride. :bounce

I just mocked up the rear end this weekend. Working on getting the shock all cleaned and looking like new. Should have it all mounted this week.

That thing is going to be REALLY nice when you are done and theres no feeling like being able to show her off when shes done. It looks great so far anyway .... Hey I was wondering, from the shock angle, it looks like that west coast swinger is modeled after the '83 arm?, not that that is a bad thing. :Beerchug

I know where you can get all your parts for old bikes, go to Rockymountainatv.com, then order a catalog, you will find everything for your R there.

Well I mounted up my tires tonight. I've had these old sand unlimited tires for a while and thought I'd put them on the R.

I just dropped off the OEM exhaust to get Ceramic chromed. http://www.finishlinecoatings.com/index.html I've never tried that before. and I thought it would be better than getting a DG exhaust for it. the shop is only a mile down the road from me. pretty cool guy that owns it. he runs land speed cars on the salt flats. seems real knowledgeable. Also got the 82 back today from getting a topend rebuild so its up and running!

Well during the race today I decided to mount up the seat and brackets to the plastic and install them on the bike to kinda get an idea of what it going to look like. Looks pretty cool! I also undated my website a little. check it out.

awesome job! yea those tires are pretty cool, what are they called?

BLAZERONE22
02-17-2004, 12:32 AM
They are old sand unlimited tires, they work pretty good out on the sand plus you can ride with them a little on harder surfaces, I had them for years. I thought they would look cool on the aircooled. This bike sets pretty tall. Its going to have a ton of travel on the suspention.

Well, I'm still waiting for my front brakes, and chain to get here, also my pipe and silencer should be ready Monday. I installed the grab bar and front skid plate, pegs and a couple other things. My headlight made it here yesterday! Thanks CHAINSAW! I'm still looking for the black forkcaps and the front brake guide that mounts on the lower triple. both parts are off a 85 R If anyone has one drop me a note. I also picked up a set of Maxis 6 plys for riding on the dirt.

That is the best looking air cooled R I have ever seen. I would like to see it with a vented number plate on there. The 85 headlight is great looking on there though. Where did you get the Fox shock at? I would say it is a 85-86 model if I didn't look at the motor. Do you ride a lot of desert? I like it better without the 6 pack rack. I would like to see you put upside down fork guards on those conventional forks. I like the look without the fork boots. We need more people like you fixing trikes.
Good Work

Well I finally got my pipe back tonight. Looks pretty good! Not bad for 130.00. Now if I can only round up all my front brake parts and add some gas and fire this baby up and take her out for a ride. I bought some 6 ply maxis for it also for trail riding.

Well I put the Tires on tonight and hooked up the petcock and filled the tank and fired it up tonight. Its nice and quiet with that OEM exhaust on there. I'm happy I did'nt go for that DG pipe. The footpegs are painted. I have a set getting chromed for it, I really like the look though of the pegs on there now.
