Hello I just joined to talk to people about 3 wheelers, and get some ideas on my project.

245178
245177
I bought this wheeler for $300 with the motor tore apart and bought another motor for $75. So far I added warrior bars, lights, and grab bar from my 97 warrior parts frame. I was told it is a 83 the only plastics I have are the front fender and the right side plastic.

Great. What would you like to know? Post up any questions. I like the 225 Yamahas. My current one is a 1985 dx with a dr engine.245154245155245156 The yellow rear rims are off of a 1995 Banshee that I've been dragging around since the late 90's. Someday, I'm going to have all three pwoder coated Either a lght blue similar to the fenders or maybe a silver.

Yep. it's a 225 going by the shape of the gas tank. I guessing that the exhaust is going to be loud. To get the engine on and off, you have to remove the swingarm.245185245186245187 Here's with the dx engine on, no engine, and then with the dr engine on. I didn't think it was too hard. I don't even remember using the manual, although I had it with me just in case.

Ok that makes sense taking the swing arm off, I was wondering how I would connect the shaft. Yes the exhaust will be loud I think it's a cobra pipe, I have one on my warrior and that thing is really loud.

I found another type that I'd like to try out some day. the brand is MBRP. They have a quiet series with a spark arrester that's supposed to have better flow than stock. If i remember right, I found it on ebay. I don't know if you like loud exhaust on not. Personally, I don't. That's why the stock exhaust is still on it for now.

I agree my warrior is so loud I don't ride it after 8:00 At night out of respect for our neighbors.

Ok so I looked at the numbers on the 3 wheeler and both motors I have for it, and I found that the motor that I got with it has matching numbers. My question is what motor should I put together ?
If it helps here are the numbers on the motors:
Matching #s motor - 29U-06813
Spare motor - 29U -092819

I'd say use which ever one needs less to get it running. If one has a bad rod bearing, don't use it. If one has very little wear in the cylinder, I'd have it honed, put new rings in and use it. Mine has a Timberwolf cylinder on the YTM bottom end. If you're worried about resale value, use the original one no matter what your have to spend on it. I don't think that matching engine numbers will make a cery big difference in the value of your trike. The only time that I'd worry about the value is if it was in extremely original condition which yours isn't. Neither is mine so I'm not trying to trash talk your trike. I just make it mine and don't worry about what I put into it versus what I could get out of it if I sell it. I like it and try to make so I like it better. Here's the homemade front rack that came on mine and the LEDs I added.245259245260245261 Neither add value to it. I like them and it's more usable to me with them than without them.

Ok thanks again for responding and I appreciate your input !!! I didn't know if one motor was better than the other, but after looking into the numbers they are both 1984 so it's not a 83. I want to build something the way I want it like you said and I'm not worried about resell value. I really like the banshee hubs and wheels on yours, I didn't know they would fit so now I'm going to get another set of warrior hubs and wheels for mine. I like the rack and led lights on yours, and it would look great if you powder coated everything blue like you mentioned.

Yep. The warrior hubs should fit too. This gives you A LOT better selection for rims in the future. I also figured that since I already had the rims, what I spent on the hubs and what I'd have to spend om wheel spacers would be about what the three bolt spacers would cost. That's going through my mind because I really like the 1.5" spacers I put on my 250SX.

I have seen ski kits before but wanted to build my own. This is just a mockup I made from wood so it is not functional.

I don't have any experience with skis since it usually doesn't snow enough here to need one. That said, it looks good to me. Your limiting factor is always the rear tires. Once they sink, you're done.

Sent from my LGL64VL using TapatalkHere is a closer look at what I built. Everything will be welded together using square tubing and flat stock, and where the shaft goes through the "frame" there will be 2 carrior bearings built into it. The shocks will be supported by steel and framed in with the rest .https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170812/b40ebcef9a43b7696a9db52525d7c58f.jpg

I also have a pair of those ITP Blackwaters that I use on my 350X in the sand. I call them "semi paddles". They work fairly well in snow up to about 4" deep. Much deeper and they don't work so well.245645245646245651 I included a peek inside my "compressor room" at some of my extras.

The V paddles are for my Tecate4. The straight ones at the bottom are pretty worn. I got those for cheap from someone at the Midwest trike Rampage in 2013. I can't remember who from. Maybe jb2wheels? In the box, is a pair of aftermarket 400ex rims that are on my 350x right now and the tires in plastic are the Cheng Shin c828 Lumberjacks that are on the back on my YTM225.

Here is a random pic I took today of the 3 wheeler with the moto 4 250 rear fenders.

Sent from my LGL64VL using TapatalkIts been awhile and I still having had time to work on the 3 wheeler because of work, family, and working on my warrior, but I did figure out with some modifications I can use the rear plastics from a warrior on my 225.

SWEEET! What mods did you have to do to get them to work?I didn't modify my rear fender I'm going to find another set's but pretty simple just drill some new holes and make some brackets and have to modify the seat I will get pics after work. The plastics for the gas tank almost line up perfect.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170928/7ef95ef644eeb0c7298e200cd929c3c2.jpg

Is there any way you could make a thread on just the fender mod? I can already see that we have 2 DX's in the family that will eventually get them. Awesome stuff.I will when I get another rear fender, it involves cutting out the warrior battery box and I only have one rear fender lol

I was wondering if it was possible to convert it to shaft drive ?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171026/5e3c9ab4ca84758de3a3d1b72f34b0e6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171026/fba7d4b3b4ec6615a592fd41ff87d5b3.jpg

You'd have to look at them close to see if it looks like it would work. I can't say either way. I'm sure you could make it work, it's just how involved do you want to get? A cutting wheel and a welder will make almost anything fit just about anywhere. At just a guess, I'd have to think that it would be a relatively simple job. It's hard to believe that they would design a completely different trike just to turn a chain drive to a shaft drive.

I decided to sell the 200 and concentrate on the 225dx.
The motor is rebuilt and in but I'm missing electronics and the wire harness is chopped up in 4 pieces so I need to find all that stuff, plus I'm missing the cover on the side of the engine where the pull cord would be. It now has rear hubs and wheels and handlebars from a 99 warrior that I bought recently.
I don't like the big front tire on the front so I'm also looking for a way to modify one of the warrior front tire/wheel to fit it or but one that's made for the 3 wheeler. Any ideas ???https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180625/553c3df8e678fca3c75f696e92b621c8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180625/bb0091b985595089b3f5d50c53cb7f65.jpg
