Hi all, was just wondering what other options are out there for 1986/87 atc 125m (&1987/88 trx125) cylinder/piston replacements. will XL125 etc work? anybody got any experience with these? thanks in advance

I don't think any other cylinders are the same the atc125 the xl125 has a 2mm bigger bore and a shorter stroke so I would have to assume that the cylinder is shorter. what is wrong with your cylinder?

I feel that the 125m '86-'87 is a perfect cc for this Little guy !!!! Its got every thing going for it!!! Just needs a little suspension front & rear LoL ................Ol Deuce

We put new 54mm rings in, but the piston is pretty worn, though the bore itself looks OK we didn't measure it, guess a rebore will be best then. Just wanted to see if there was anything else out there compatible really. The later 125m really is a great machine, good looks, reverse etc...

The jug on the 86+ ATC/trx125 is indeed taller than the cb/cl/sl/xl 125's. It's actually the same height as a 185/200 jug, but it has the small bore, and has an extra machined hole for the chain tensioner that the other 125-200's do not. I believe the compression height of the piston is only about 1-2 mm's taller than the other 125's. You may be able to use a cb or xl125 piston as an oversize
