The lower the number, the thinner the oil. Which is better in cold weather, because, its easier to move around. Yes, I use AMSoil (2 cycle oil) which is synthetic oil. I also use synthetic oil in my gear oil too :-D

synthetics can be bad if you have older seals. It is viscus to run between them even if you ran the same weight of dinosaur oil with no problems.
Never use synthetics for the break in period cause it wont let your rings seat properly. They need a little abrasion between them and the hone. After your good and broken in. Switch to synthiteics and never look back
Remember though if you run synthetics in your car, its only gonnna be as good as the oil filter you got in there. Believe it or not but motorcraft has one of the better filters out there. I change my oil every 6-10k but I bet I could get by with more miles N/P. I have read that there are people running the AMSoil Challange and trying to make it on 100k with no oil changes. Last I read was that couple people were in the 60k range and their engine oil particulate came back will a minimal wear rating( they send in a sample of the oil to get tested for chunks of metal). Never ran AMS but I do know Mobil1 is a very good oil. Another good oil for for 2 and 4 strokes that has a similar chemical structure as Mobil1 is Dumondtech---I run this in all my 2 stokes, It coats the pistons so well that if you pull the pistons, it would first appear that there was a bad case of blow by, but if you look harder, you will notice that the whole piston has been coated and stays coated by a good amount of this stuff. I believe it has to do with the Esters that make up the oil but im not completly sure. And Yes! I run synthetics in all my gear boxes.
