Scored this fugly 1986 250R a couple weeks ago off CL for $1,000. I feel I got very lucky on this one. This is one of those situations where being on craigslist at the right time paid off. Bike had been posted for roughly 24 minutes and I shot the seller a text letting him know I was interested and that I would like to talk at his earliest convenience. That evening he called and we talked a while about the bike and things sounded good to go. I was 5hrs from him and it was Wednesday night when we first spoke and I knew I couldn't get there till Saturday at the earliest. He had a hunting trip planned for that weekend but said we could meet after 2 on Sunday when he returned. I told him I would be there! "TrikeTrip":p. The seller was a super cool guy! He told me after I got there and we had chatted for a while that he had a lot of calls on it. So many he started copy and pasting his reply of " have someone coming.will let you know you Monday if it's still for sale". Bike needs alot of love but runs and drives. For this bike I am going to be taking it up to Yaegerb and going with a resto-mod.

You call that fugly? Looks pretty decent to others I’ve seen. Now you get to make it your own.

Thanks JB, I've been on the lookout for one for a little while. I picked it up down your way.

That is cool. It is all there as I can tell. Clean it up , Service it and fix anything wrong or worn out and run it. You did great! Hope to see it in the Dunes. The rear tires are Perfect BTW.

I almost texted him, it was really close to me, but I've got enough projects and not enough money lol

Thank you sir, yeah it's a complete bike from what I can tell. The PO said that yellow paint was done before had gotten it 10 years ago and it hasn't been ridden in 5 years becuase of a leak in the head gasket.

Thank you sir. The plan is to turn it back into a nice rider.

Yea I figured there would be some from this community that would have seen it and might have had some interest in it too!

Nice score. Always great being there at the right time on a AD. That's how I got my 200X. Glad the guy was cool and kept his word until you met up.

Thank you sir! Yeah timing was everything for this deal and the seller being as cool as he was made it happen for me. It definitley could have played out differently.
