So I have the whole backhalf out of the bike. Painted some parts and new bearings. Trying to get the airbox installed and it won't go in. I have tried through all the open holes. What the HE double hockey sticks is going on? I have the shock out and everything.

I tackled a stock airbox one time and felt like burning the fugger down during the process. I remember having to pull the shock off and do a lot of cussing.

I think I pulled the rubber carb boot and snorkel off too. My mind has a way of blocking out traumatic experiences so I my memory is fuzzy.

It has been a while since I pulled mine out, but I'm pretty sure you have to remove the rear shock and maybe even rocker arm. It comes out, just too much trouble.

I have the shock, swingarm, link and dog bone out of the bike. I will keep at it.

Yep, your on the right track. It's a pita. Think they built frame around the box at the factory! Gotta push and twist and turn it, once you loose some knuckle skin or a fingernail your getting close!

Got the box in the frame and realized someone cut the tabs or bracket off that it secures to. So I pulled it back out and got the ass end reinstalled with new bearings. Now my problem is the carb cap. I bought a thumb throttle last year and new cable only to find out the cable won't work with the old cap. Tried to modify it and trashed the piece the cable goes through attached to the cap. Now I need to find a cap that will work with the cable or suck it up and buy a new carb.

It's good that I keep all old unused parts lying around. Had a throttle cable from something that had the plastic 90* bend in it for the carb cap. Just had to hog it out with a drill bit to get the cable through it. Installed the new cable and cap on the carb. It works perfectly. Now to finish the bike and ride it.
