Does anyone know if the front forks/shocks on the 225dx are the same as any of the ytm200's ????
Also, the more important question: does anyone have any for SALE? I am willing to pay the high shipping cost of them if you do. And I have paypal...

No they are not. They can be interchanged, but the 225 forks are much better. The 200 forks are a joke.
Good luck finding a set that isn’t bent or rusted. They're out there, but they're rare.

And the prices reflect that...

Geeze I could buy a whole parts bike (with a lot of patience) for that price, and just take the forks off of it.

If you’re desperate enough to use 200 forks I might be able to help.

Depending on the price, I may be willing to use the (as you put it) crappy 200 forks :)
I found excellent condition 225dx forks on ebay for a total of $125 after shipping.
How much can you beat that price by?
Also, do the 200 forks look a lot different than 225 forks?
And here is the deal: The forks on my 225dx are seized. Its so f*cking cold here in VT, I am not sure if they just have (frozen) water in them, or if they are bent or rusted/seized (I just bought the bike not to long ago, and haven't messed with it much yet.)
The ONLY reason I don't like that the forks are stuck is because when I come down from a wheelie it slams the HELL out of me because the front end has no give (the forks wont even BUDGE).
Will the 200 forks at least give me a soft landing (on the front end) when i come down from wheelies?
Do they just ride rougher when going over bumps etc.? (I don't mind that.)
Thanks.

If you have a 225DX, the 200 front-end is going to be a huge disappointment to you and a hindrance if you resell the machine
$125 shipped for a pair of forks is cheap. Shipping forks is expensive by itself. I'll bet $50 of that price is shipping alone.
El camex is good people and I don't want to step on his sale but if you're trying to beat $125 shipped to get a front-end, I would guess your budget is tight. These things are money pits so before you give up on your current forks, have you considered taking off the caps to see if there's an issue inside (like full of Frozen stuff like you mentioned)??? You can get ahold of a small propane torch and apply some heat to the tubes. Are they really rusty?
You can hold a straight edge on the center of the axle at the bottom and center it at the top of the slider (the lower part of the fork assembly) and lookup at the tube to see if it's straight or bent.
However, if I called it wrong and money ain't no thang, then definitely get 225DX forks to put on a 225DX

Wow, I actually just found (and bought) a pair of ytm200 forks on eBay for $32 with free shipping!!
The guy wanted $36 but I submitted a "best offer" for $32 and he took it.
He is only gonna make like $0.59 after shipping cost and fees lol!
They are in good working condition (not bent, and they move freely - I specifically asked him about this.)
They are kind of rusty, but it will match the rest of my 225dx :)
I don't care if it looks pretty, I just want a MECHANICALLY perfect 225DX, which I think I will have now after putting these forks on.
I don't care if they are as good as the 225dx forks. Now that I remember, I used to have a ytm200 that I did nonstop wheelies with, and the landing were fine when I came down from a wheelie (unlike with my 225dx, with the seized front forks.)
And the only thing I care about is wheelies anyways.
Besides, even with my old ytm200 (with NO rear suspension), I was fine riding it anywhere, bumpy or not :)
So should be fine with the ytm200 forks on my 225dx.

Put a Tri-z front end on and be done with it.

Looks like i’m responding a little bit late, but now that I see you have frozen 225 Forks I think what I would consider is trading you straight up for my 200 forks which are probably in as good a condition as you will find out there.
I’m not at home right now, but if you go to my personal page here you will see an area called “my albums” and in there are photos of my YTM 200 with the original forks on it. They are still in the same condition with the exception of possibly a few small scratches on the powder coated legs. I would send you my forks and axle and you would send me your forks and axle.
I have enough spare parts that I can probably get those 225 Forks back to working condition without too much effort.
Depending on what you’re $32 forks look like, you may still want to do this, if so let me know and I would be able to get them up to the states for shipping in late February.

To the original poster, your best bet would have been to disassemble and rebuild. DR forks were the first I'd ever rebuilt and I was glad to finally learn how to do that. It's something that will be of value to you for the rest of your life. Also, it's your machine, but it seems silly to me to downgrade like that. Desperate times call for desperate measures, but your situation doesn't really seem that desperate to me. The DR/DX forks are way too small to begin with, I hammered mine, and I couldn't imagine riding that with an even worse set of forks on there. Your machine though and I get it if you're just hanging wheelies here and there.

If I want a smoother ride I'll jump on my raptor 700 :)
Of course, that thing is always driven on the 2 rear tires as well though, so the suspension doesn't really mean that much on my Raptor 700 either :)
Elcamexican, I will consider your offer, even though I have already bought cheap ytm200 shocks. Sounds like yours are in better shape than the ones I bought. And I don't have much interest in trying to fix my 225dx forks.
Thank you for all of the input guys. Much appreciated!

Fabs is right, but I get your situation.
Ponder it and if still interested send a pm with your email and we can exchange photos of each others forks.
Just so there arent any sort of problems later I want to add this next part publicly and that is to say that if your forks are badly rusted, bent, or damaged in some other way that I deem to be irreparable I’m not interested.
As well, I would want you to send me $150 through PayPal for “goods and services” and when my forks arrive to you, you would inspect them and if you want to keep them you would have the option of either sending me yours, or just leaving me with the $150.
Assuming that you want to send me the 225 forks, I would receive them from you and inspect them and if they are in the condition that I perceive them to be from your photos and descriptions I would refund you your $150. If not, I would just send them back to you.
The $150 number is derived from me believing that my forks are worth $100 and that if I have to send you back your forks and you keep mine I will be out shipping on the return.
I hope this makes sense, I just woke up and I’m still laying in bed. Also sorry to make this sound so complicated, but a couple years back we guy named Milner on here that pretty much ruined the trust that most people in this community deserve.

Not to hijack but....What is it that makes the 225 ones that much better ? Fatter, longer, better internals ?

I have a extra set of 225 forks if need be.
I personally think the front suspension is good for what it’s intended for. Trail riding it’s soft enough to get full travel instead of being a pogo stick. Do a little jump and they bottom out but hey, it’s a utility trike at heart. But all mine were in good working order.

The 225 forks have all the internals you'd expect to see in a conventional fork and you can make mods if you want. The 200 forks on the other hand are about as complicated as the dampers on the rear hatch of a mini-van. The damper rod is welded into the lower tube and they don't have rebound springs either, so if you try to stiffen them with shims, or by adding valve springs inside the tubes (can't blame a guy for trying) the sliders slam into the steel shim under the fork seal and make a frightening metallic clunk whenever you pull a wheelie. Having seen some of the seal retaining clips rust out I can't help but wonder if anyone has ever popped a seal out of these things on the rebound stroke. Calling them junk would be an understatement.
Both forks are way to small in diameter to resist bending when driven by anyone between 10 and 60 years of age and the fork cap design they share should have been outlawed. I don't know who designed and approved that setup, but if they had any honor their bodies ended up hanging in the Aokigahara forest following their first attempt to change the oil in a used set.
If you have the means I suggest a Tri-Z front end on any 225 you plan to ride hard. The 225 forks are fine for the 200's as they're restricted by the solid rear.

i have a basket case 225 I was gonna steal the wheels off to get 8 inch rims and knobbies instead of the big azz 9 inch boggers. I might just cop the forks too then if it's gonna be a worth while improvement as I already have them.
