Shift shaft 85 help

Need some help guys putting my motor together on a 1985 tecate 3 and I ran into a problem hope I can get some help everything looks right but won’t shift I tried to find some information online but can’t seem to find anything here’s some pics maybe I have it wrong? 251433251434251435251436

When I try to turn the drum the teeth get stuck on the top plate of the shift shaft so it won’t turn

Any help on this would be great?

Hopefully if we bump this to the top, a Tecate expert can chime in. I have no idea what I'm even looking at... so... free bump
