There are 2 bolts that hold the plate in over the cam. I can take them off, but how do you get that silver block thing, that holds the cam in, out of the head assembly? I don't think it screws out. How do you get it back in? Also, how do the rockers come out?
This is how my Haynes Manual says to do it:
Remove cam sprocket
Remove bolts and seperate valve covers from the head, then loosen the locknuts and back out the valve adjuster in each valve.
Flatten the tabbed washer tabs and remove the bolts, then detatch the camshaft bearing retaining plate. Be careful not to drop the bolts or plate down into the engine. you can stuff a clean rag in the cylinder cavity to prevent such an occurance.
The camshaft and bearing are removed as an assembly with a slide hammer. Thread the slide hammer bolt into the hole in the end of the camshaft(10MM threads) and gently tap the camshaft out. This will force the bearing out. Keep the rocker arms pivoted up and out of the way of the cam lobes.
The book doesn't say how to remove the rocker arms....I think they are molded into the head or something to that effect.

I found out what a slide hammer is. How does it work though? Do you push it in, and let its weight and spring, or what ever, pull/tap it out? I'm sure you could use a pully puller backwards? :? Btw, thanks goku!

Ok, now I see why its called a slide hammer. Had to think about it. LOL, I believe it has a heavy weight that slides back and forth, and you pull back, and let it slam into the retainer to pull the cam out. I'm sure I could make one with a 10mm bolt.
I'm not 100% sure but like you say I think it has a weight on it with a bolt on the end, and you slide it opposite the way the cam is and beat it out. I don't think one would be too hard to make, go for it!

Found one here at the ranch. Never knew we had it! :D It's not the right kind, since it can only pull on chains. :( But I can make one here with minimal cost. I already have the bolts, and just need to drill out a shaft and put the bolt through! :-D

I don't know about beating it out, it sounds a little dangerous. When I recently remove my cam I used a pulling tool my friend made up.It was something like this.A two sized bolt with no head. The one end screws into the 10mm sized hole, the other one has 12mm I think, and a nut and small spacer. As you tighten the nut, the spacer applies downforce, bringing the cam up or out.I hope that helps.

Well, its not really beating it out. Its actually just tapping it. There isn't much weight with a small slide hammer. It just coaxes out the bushing. What trike did you pull the cam from? On the 225, you'd need a pipe that is large enough to around that gigantic bushing.
