So today after work I decided to muck around with my old flogged out chain tensioner.

So... I drilled out the old tensioner sprocket and bolted on a rubber roller.

I have two choices to either bend the plate to allow the bolt to clear, or grind back and weld the bolt.

Welded it up, looks Schmick. I just need to tidy it up.

Nice.

When I do mine like that, I drill & tap the plate, screw the bolt in, grind to length.
Then take it apart and put back together with loctite.

Yeah nice, that came to mind too and would also work well.

Does this upgrade quite down the usual noises the stock tensioners make?

I have been just using the plastic roller with needed washers- bolts and spacer and bolting it to the slotted groove and loosen and adjust as needed. 5 years still going..12 bucks and 20 minutes
