125m problems

i just got an 1984 125m from a friend who rolled it into a pond. it wouldent start so he gave it to me. i cleaned it up changed the oil and got it to start up it and then it started smokeing really bad(thick white smoke with no smell) after 2 min and oil started comeing out of the exaust. any ideas what's wrong?? do i need to replace the rings???

Yeah it sounds like ring time to me. Also sounds like water got down in the engine to cause that. But for a free gift, there is nothing wrong with that.........peace

White smoke may have been steam, recheck the oil for what looks like milk. If you ran it with bad oil it may have wiped the whole top end out.
