Need help with an '81 250R

I just acquired a Hondaline 300R motor. I am doing the top and bottom end, complete rebuild. I go to remove the stator flywheel cover and find that the nut just spins. How can I remove this nut? I've tried everything short of taking a grinder and cutting the cover in half.

Be careful and cut the nut in a “v” to remove pressure on the threads and the nut may be able to spin off. If not, cut sections of the nut off until you can remove in pieces. Here’s the rub: if it’s that bad chances are you need a new crank unless you think you can clean the threads with a die.

Thanks for the advice. Ended up taking a dremel and cutting the nut.
