need a new intake boot for my 250r. i was looking and noticed the 85 boot is not available but the 86 is. whats the difference in the two? the pictures look like its the same

Not sure what the difference is, but the 86 one will bolt on the 85 engine, they both use the same gasket part number. The 85 and 86 carb part numbers changed, so that could be a potential issue if the size changed. 250r's are not my strong point though.

yeah it went from round slide to flat slide. but i believe they were both 34 mm carbs

Which boot are you talking about here? The carburetor-to-reed valve isolator boot, or the airbox-to-carburetor boot? If it's the airbox-to-carburetor boot, it shouldn't matter which year, '85-86, that you use. If you're talking about the carburetor-to-reed valve isolator boot though, externally the 2 years are the same, but internally, I believe the '86 version was optimized (shaped differently) to flow better, with the '86 style reed valve stuffer. All of these parts will interchange between both years & carburetors, but the '86 style will flow better, when used with the '86 style reed valve stuffer.

carb to reed. thank you for the info. i just wanted to make sure the 86 boot would work with with the 85 reeds and carb

it will be used on my 310 with v force 3 reed block and 38mm airstriker

I have used an 89 trx 250r intake boot on my 85 with both 85 and 86 carb plus a 38 mill works fine with all three carbs.
