wondering if a harley muffler will work on my 250 ES as far as back pressure etc.? The harley muffler came form a 1200 cc bike

I can't see why not. If it's from a 1200 then each muffler HAS to be capable of taking 600cc. I'd say you'll have NO back pressure problems. I'd be curious as to how loud it is though. I see harley mufflers (factory) around here often for fairly cheap. MIght make a good option for future builds.

Try it and report back.

Call me crazy, but putting a large CC open Harley muffler on a mild 250CC 4 stroke engine isn't going to add any benefits whatsoever.

It will most likely create a lean condition that will require re jetting.

Can anyone explain to me the difference between a 'Harley Muffler' and a piece of triple chrome plated 18ga. pipe with a slight bend in it?

One is real cheap and the other is horribly overpriced!

Yes, the harley muffler costs around 10 times more....and the chrome will rust then flake off of it.

ok...the only reason i am using the harley muffler is because its damn near the same length and gerth ....the original was rusted badly. Maybe it will sound like a BRP canam...fingers X....son in law had the mufflers laying around the basement and i had a brain fart. wasnt looking for any benefits

Is it a stock Harley muffler or aftermarket?

Has the baffle been punched out?

Harley mufflers aren't neccesarily "open" mufflers. The only real open "muffler" for a Harley is drag pipes without baffles. Even if you punch the end cap out of a baffle in a stock Harley muffler the exhaust is still forced thrust the baffle material.

Been riding Harley's a long time Gabe, or are you just bloviating tired old stereotypes, misinformation and Harley hater drivel?

I just don’t get it. If Harley makes you happy, then by all means but it’s about the most inefficient small engine ever built.
Waaaaay too expensive too. No reason for that.

I’m of a practical mind and you can easily make more power with twice the reliability.
And I don’t mean them silly crotch rockets either.....although..Jesus what that Hyabusa will do. That’s insane.
Yamaha V-max comes to mind.
But admittedly I’m a bit of a hypocrite. I change polarity immediately when you step into automobiles. For what you spend making a tuner run, I could build a small block that’ll tear chunks of asphalt up off the ground when you nail it.

We all have our opinions. Most of them are worthless. Mine are anyway.

as far as i know its a stock harley muffler. Thats why i got them, ...my son in law tried to sell them as he installed screamin eagles...thats why im thinking they are stock...i will have a closer look at the small print on them, going to fire up the beast soon so i will report back. If it wasnt so hard for me to post a pic, i would. Is there an easy way to post a pic now that photobucket sucks...lol. gimmee a break ..im an old fart

Roonie - As far as posting pics I have found my solution.

Whether on here, Craigslist, 3WW or Ebay, I do all my writing at the website. Then I use any APP on my phone and I "revise" my posts with instant pictures from my phone. It has been excellent for me.

Now, that is, if you have a smart phone. It's getting to the point that all landlines are gone, all pay phones are gone, and sooner or later, EVERYONE will have smart phones to hold their "digital money" as well as everything else people need each day.

For 3WW, I use the "tap-a-talk" APP to add pictures later...

Someone welded a Harley muffler on my KLT200 before i got it. Actually sounds decent. Ran well before the fuel pump died. Ported with a milled head.
