I use this site sparingly because of the pic restriction. Any other site I join allows me to share photos day 1. I have flipped lots of motorcycles over the years and recently got into the Honda trikes. As I have been restoring them I found I have most of the 1983 line up and now am obsessed with having a full 1983 dealer line up. If I could upload pics you would be able to see the line up so far. Below is a link to my YouTube series on the atc70.

Yea, I'd say the anti bot measures are a bit old school and a bit over kill. That part of the site I'd like to see modernized, but forums are dying out even though it's a great platform for research and looking up what other people have talked about. Facebook is like the new standard, problem is all the non-answers, random guesses instead of educated guesses, and misinformation from people "trying" to help, but it's more damaging than anything. I see people firing up the parts cannon all the time on facebook, after they replace 5 things and it doesn't work, they are confused, fair chances one of the new parts is probably Chinese junk and was bad from brand new, but they didn't test anything to figure that out.

I should make a store, call it The Shotgun or something and offer whole kits of parts so they just replace everything, but it's all tested parts and known working. I bet the store would probably do better than it should just because people don't want to spend time learning how to diag their equipment or pay a shop to fix it right.

Ok rant over xD.

Good threads just refuse to die.

Due to a series of unfortunate events, I lost access to my shop. Sad, but it was awesome while it lasted.

So...what to do with dozens of 3 wheelers now?

Down and depressed, I offered all to MrC for a. fair price, luckily he refused because the logistics of getting them all moved would have been a nightmare.

I brought some home and put some in a storage unit.

Then I visited the First National Bank of Honda.

269996

Frank and Jessie were the first to go. I "hit a lick", like my father would say.

Next, a guy wanted a 250ES, so I sold him 4 projects. Not a bad lick.

269997

His son was interested in a 250sx project so I sold him 2

Good lick.

Much more to come. Stay tuned.

That's good you're able to find storage for some of them and sell some as package deals.

Too bad things worked against your trike intentions though. Good luck with holding onto the ones you want most and maybe getting back into a shop setting.

Thanks King, nothing I enjoy more than bringing one back from the dead. So far, the people buying them have been very excited and appreciative. I don't mind giving a good deal to someone who is going to save them.

It has really sucked having to let some of them go, but I will be like the Terminator. ("I'll be back")

Yes the Bank of Honda, Has always provided. Im glad to hear you were able to keep most of them for now, I understand parting with a lot and keeping the best.
now that I have my big 3 up and riding, I honestly to not see keeping to many more long term, I will need some for content for the YT channel.

Its easier said than done. I seem to always talk myself into keeping more than I should. lol

I'd would have loved those tecate's, but Florida is kind'a a long drive from your place.

So...The guy who bought Frank and Jessie called me and said "Do you have anymore?" I smiled :) He said that he had 6 grandkids and everyone needed one. I smiled again lol.

I loaded the trailer to meet him.

270011

He got the Big Red that I was working on, the black 200x, the blue 250sx, the 85 SX and one of the 86 125m's.

I returned home with an empty trailer and filled my coffee can.

So...The grandfather called me back and wanted to know what else I had...

Sad to let these go, it bothered me but I knew it was for the best.

270012

Both needed a little tuning but were overall good. He was pleased and told me about the yellow 90 he bought for $100 as a kid.

Pretty smart guy, even though I am making money off these, it's way cheaper for him than buying 9 4-wheelers.

So far I have parted with 15 machines I think.

I think I have about 11 more and I'll end up keeping two or three.

What else are you wanting to sell?

hardest part about flipping trikes is deciding which trikes to sell. I'm realizing I don't need my small collection. I like my 350x and 200x. I'm thinking I really dont need the 3 185s trikes but they don't really sell for much locally and I can't replace them for what they sell for. I have a spare 200x, but its nice to have a back up. So in the end, I'll just won't flip anything right now. jim

That is the "hording part" not wanting to sell any. In my early years it was easy, I kept 1 (250sx) and sold the rest, I was paying bills with and testing out this new flipping venture, but as I got profitable, it became easy to keep a bike that was in essence free. I could justify keeping a "rare" or nicer machine, now I look back over 15 machines and only ride 2 or 3 of them regularly. The old saying hold true, I'm not hungry anymore, I'm complacent with the collection. I have committed to downsizing I am running out of space and would like to cash out some of the profits, I have tied up in the collection. It's all part of it.

if I had the room that you have, I'd have a lot more. But living in town with a regular yard it gets hard to keep the toys, plus there's 2 chevelles, a camaro, 2 tacomas, and my beater pontiac vibe. jim

I would rather flip a trike end for end at 35mph than try to sell it around here. I used to sell stuff in the paper or in Uncle Henry's(a weekly rag). People would call and set up a time to come out, and never show. Or they wanted to trade something that I had no interest in.
Then the random calls 7 months later. Think my Flippin days are over! Rather just tinker and ride anyway!

locally a running titled 185s or 200s with decent plastics and seats might get you 600 bucks on a good day. By the time you buy a project trike, a seat cover, add whatever parts the trike needs, 3 new tires, a bonded title runs about 100 bucks so there really isn't much to be made unless you have some beater tires or the trike comes with tires and plastics. jim

I think that really comes down to which model machine it is and the condition. I have always tried to be honest about prices, the margins for the hardtail trikes are very thin. Very early in this thread I laid out how I saw the different models and there values based on demand. (in my location)

briefly as I see it in my area -
Most collectable models : 250r, 350x, 250es, 86/87 200x, 86/87 125m, atc70
each of these have there own following and demand, thus bringing higher resale prices, holding their value better, over all a good investment.

Small niche group - US90 & ATC90 very collectable but must be in excellent condition to retain high value (balloon tries)

All the remaining hard tails are base solely on desire of the buyer, most of these models range in price from $800 to $1800
Sadly the 250sx for what ever reason, they do not command high prices, I have seen them from 500 to 2500 - personally I think they are excellent machines and should be worth a lot more.
Just my opinion and from what I have seen in my area.

Footy:

Up next is a pair of 86 125m's, which I believe are going to a follower of this thread.

Jim:

I agree on margins, but like my father taught me "It's not what you sell them for but what you buy them for". You have to come across good deals on complete machines. If you get into replacing plastics and buying eBay parts then you will quickly have more in one than you will ever get for it.
