I am putting my big red back together finally. My starter gears teeth were broken due to the bad one way bearing. I have replaced the one way bearing and am trying to put the right side crankcase cover back on and ran into a problem. I can't figure out how to install the spring that goes on the arm that the reverse cable connects to. I have read a few post about this but still at a lost. I put it back together but when pulling the cable, it doesn't move. I think I see how the reverse lever works but can't seem to figure out how the spring fits on to make the cable work. Does anyone have a picture of the side cover off with the reveres arm and lever in place or any advice? I have tried to install the arm, spring and lever in the engine before installing the cover.

The spring hooks on the arm
And then the other side just rest in the bottom case .
Maybe this diagram will help .

I made this quick video of what I think your issue is. https://youtu.be/nxqawYbqKI0

I got it! I guess i didn't have something just right the first time i put everything back together. My reverse cable wouldn't even budge so I knew something wasn't right. I was able to get the spring wedged up on top of the casing where the screen filter goes. Now I can see how everything works when the reverse cable is pulled. Thanks
