While visiting MI last week I hopped on up to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, and happened to pick up a couple 12 packs of Molson XXX, which is a strong beer with a 7.3% alcohol content. I figured it would taste like crap, but it was actually very good. Does anyone know how many 12 packs I can legally bring back to the US next trip? I have to play it legal since I always seem to get searched and interrogated by customs because the little woman is not US-born.

I've heard you can buy it in the US, but I have not seen it anywhere here in VA. Usually the import versions taste a lot different than the real deal anyway, kinda funny like that. I still have a 12 pack left, but I am going to savor them til I take the next trip ths summer.

Ya the Molson XXX is strong stuff. If you are used to drinking the watered down American beer , take it easy with this stuff or you will be in for a long night and harder morning.

VABCH350X, just call your local customs office with your question. They'll be able to give you all of the info over the phone....

she is still there VABCH350X !!! ??? ,,,

about 6 years ago the mrs. and i loaded up the old dodge van that had a bazillion miles on it and looked like it too. headed out for a little over 3 weeks travling up the west coast of michigan and back down the other side. we decided to skip into canada when in the uppper and have a white fish supper and pick up a couple cases of those molsons ,,, 1 to drink and 1 for the fella watching our dog.
we wern't in canada for 2 hours and coming back into the states we met the same ,,, ummmm women,,, you'd met VABCH350X ! she asked that we pull up in front of this quanset hut looking building and the door went up and a whole detachment of reservest proceeded to disect our van ,,, then us too.
i gotta admit that we looked rough as a cob but also have no plans on going up to get any more molsen ( i liked the it too !).

No John, I was talking about my little woman. LOL. She wasn't born in the Unites States, so we get the interrogation deluxe in the tiny little garage while 4 INS agents re-arrange my truck's interior for me. Great beer though, too bad I have to make this last 12-pack last til my next trip to the U.P. in July.......Unless any of you Canuks would be willing to bring me some at trikefest ;)

I grew up just south of the quebec border and I remember that you could bring back one case (24) and one bottle of booze, without paying a duty. Tons of times we would bring much more then that across, and the B.P. never charged us duty. They could have if they wanted to though, we always bought it at the tax free shop right across the border and they send a copy of reciet to the patrol booth. So they knew exactly what we had with us.
