I'm restoring an '87 250sx and a buddy of mine is letting me use his mostly mint '86 as a model for cable and wire routing, etc. There are some subtle differences between the '86 and '87 in the carb hose routing, but I can't seem to get the choke cable routed correctly. The '86 has it routed up the right side of the main frame tube over the engine, around the steering stem, and up to the choke lever. If I route the one on the '87 the same way, it looks about 4" too long. The service manual doesn't show the routing. Does anyone have any pics or description of the correct routing for an '87?

I think I figured out the issue. The choke cable on my machine is aftermarket, so it is longer than the stock one. Anybody have a Honda 250sx choke cable they want to sell?

Can you shorten yours?

I don't think so. There are special ends molded into each end of the cable. I routed it down the left side of the frame tube, so it isn't bad, but we'll see how it works once I go to fire it up.

This isn't the greatest diagram, but don't see any others in the service manual. At least should get you right in the front end area.
