I need to take the front axle off to check the wheel bearings (gettin noisy) but the axle doesnt want to cooperate. Beyond the usual stuff like WD40, liquid wrench etc, does anbody have suggestions on how to remove the axle? I read a post where one was siezed and the lower LH fork ended up breaking or stripping out.
Thanks

Max, bummer! I broke frt. axle on my 250sx(before I swapped frt. ends) and had same prob. getting axle out. What happens is the axle gets rusted to the distance collar. Isoaked mine for days w/WD40 and beat the he!! out of it and got nowhere. Finally my bro-in-law took it to work and punched it out with a 50 ton press. So that's my .02. Find a big press! :D

Yeah, a press is the only option really. My ytm 200 axle was froze in there. Well, a BFH didn't work, it just busted up the threads and pushed the axle out along with everything else. :?

OK, so #7 will rust to the axle?
Did you have any problem getting the axle to unthread from the LH fork?

yup, #7 on mine was totally rusted on. It pulled out the bearings with it too. :( My 200 didn't thread into the fork, so I dont know. I wasn't able to get the #7, the axle, and the fork apart. The #7 was holding it all together.
