O.K. here is one for all the sport trike riders out there. How do you guys free up the slider pins on the brake calipers? You know what I mean, the ones that have sat up for the past 15 years. Every time I go to rebuild the brakes on a project, the pins that hold the caliper to its bracket are seized. I have tried heat, soaking in wd-40, pb blaster, oil, liquid wrench, kroil, ect. Have resorted to cutting some in two and driving the pieces out and replacing w/ new. But how do you get the one out that you can only get to one end? Like on the rr. of 85 250r. one is just a bolt and bushing, but the other is in a blind hole. How would you guys get it out?

Thanks,
Whiteman

Stuck slide pins are a chore no matter what you do. I usually go after the thru pin first, once it's out you can use the bracket as a handle to loosen the one in the blind hole. I always use plenty of penetrating oil and if they are REALLY stuck I have built a jig to use my 28 ton press to press the thru pins out. If you have some movement just keep spraying and tapping the pin in and out with a plastic mallet until you can work it loose enough to spin it out. Hope this helps.

The other problem I have found is that the sleeve that is in the whole sticks to the pin. After you get the pin out, seperate the pin from the sleeve, clean them both up, and put them back in. I usually have distroyed the pin by this time, and put in a new one. the sleeve is part of the caliper body, and cannot be procured seperatly
