1st was a $60, 81 185s that was mostly all there, got it running new tires etc. next was a $40 92 185s parts bike that got put back together. I needed a spark advancer, front fender and forks so my parts guy sells me a almost complete frame for 50 bucks, has a stuck motor which now spins over. probably have it running this weekend.
Now my latest pile of junk!
85 200s, why did I buy it? its got a complete motor that spins fine, just no spark. found out its got a 83? big red rear axle assembly, busted big red rear plastics and probably a big red harness. (has a regulator). no front axle.
I tried a 81 harness on the 200s motor and still no spark. Ill mess with it some more this weekend. Main reason I boight it, was for the bolts, switches, pull start, thumb throttle and carb, brake lever. Crazy thing, I had a axle and brake assembly for a 85 200s that I tossed awhile back. jim

Parts trikes are hard to come by even at those prices around here.
Check out the mania on Ebay driving a lot of it. People posting ads that don't even know the year or model, and calling trikes original even though several parts have been replaced with aftermarket. I'm not sure who the bigger idiot is, the incompetent knobs posting the ads, or the people paying good money for pieces of junk.
Keep on trucking.

now that its dark out, went and did the spark plug test.....we have spark!. im thinking its got low compression, going to check the valves adjustment tomorrow. the headpipe isn't oily so I'm hoping it just sat. if the motor runs it give me options. jim

intake valve was so tight it had zero play when cold. loosened it a bit and felt compression when pulling on the recoil. messed with a couple bad connectors and get intermitten spark I think its the black wire off the stator, need to put a real connector. ran a little gas down the carb and its wanting to pop. advanced the timing to the middle of the slot and it fired off once! going to advance the timing further tomorrow. jim

Good to hear. You've been coming up with some pretty good deals lately.

went and pulled the timing plug, timing was still off. moved the plate and started did run on the gas I squirted into the opening. The connectors seems loose and dirty, so thats the next project, then pull the motor, dismantle the frame and get this stuff organized. If the motor runs decent, its going into the latest 185 project. hopefully the carrier interchanges, the 185 carrier has rusty bearings packed full of fresh grease. going to try the 185 axle in theb200e carrier. jim

went out and the motor started up. didn't blow smoke, carb probably needs to be cleaned. need to make room, so yanked the motor, its going into my other pile of junk project on another thread (found a broken intake manifold bolt). tossed the frame in into the side yard (it should go into the dumpster but....
frame and forks check
rear carrier and axle. check
motor, carb, headpipe check
harness, cdi, coil check
hubs and rims check
1 new tire and rim check
handlebars, switches and throttle check
gas tank. check
110 or 185s rear fender to adapt.
going to set the parts aside on the shelf. maybe at some later date, this one will get put back together. jim

hopefully will be posting a pic of the next parts trike tomorrow. I need tires for my latest 185s, going to hopefully pick up a trike for just the tires and tank, but who knows, might be another project to put back together. jim

just picked this up for parts. 85 125m. it had a pull start on the ad but went missing when I went to get it. But a 200s? pull start was included. motor does turn over no carb or intake. wrong tank and plastic but there is a good trunk lid. Not sure what the plastic fits, but I need the tank and wheels/tires for my 185s projects. ive got a 110 125m tank and a set of 110 plastics with brackets that fit
almost a waste to strip it. not too bad for 65 bucks. jim

Lots of parts there for 75 bucks. I pick up any trike I can find under $100.

The tank has surface rust in it. Dont see any rust bubbles so hopefully its a good tank. Found a intake and carb on my spare 125m motor, I might try to see if the motor runs. Too bad there's not a market for trike parts around here. Jim

this is getting stupid! hooked the wires up where they belong, the switch is busted so I pulled the contact apart, installed another 125m carb and intake, hooked a battery charger with the jump circuit. hit the start button and it spins and im getting spark. check the valve and the exhaust was tight. squirter some gas down the carb and it runs! carb needs a cleaning. tried to fill the bowl but it won't run with the gas in the bowl.
Now to decide it its worth getting a few parts and keep it together. I have the correct tank and anolder 110 plastic which fits. jim

Jim: I will want to see your collection in a few months! You'll have a dirty dozen for sure! You can sell the 200m tank or trade it for. a. 125 tank for sure! The only other thing you will need. is a seat.

I went and cleaned the carb this evening. hit the start button and it runs real smooth! No smoke! If I get time, I'll fix the valve stem and get 3 full tires. tape up any bare wires. and see how it shifts. If it shifts, might as well get a recoil next week if my buddy has a spare. order a key switch, clean the 125 tank and figure something for the seat. jim

on the 125m, replaced the handlebar switch and jumped the broken key switch installed a spare throttle cable which was about a foot too long and a thumb throttle. it runs smooth, I rigged a gas bottle and sat on a towel and it seems to shift fine. The valve stems bad on 2 tires so the air goes out real quick. but I think it runs good enough to warrant a pull start. called my go to guy and he has one for 30 bucks. so no more jumping with a jump box. still don't know what to do with it. but it can go on the back burner. jim

You have a good "Go to guy". Not many $30 recoils around that I ever see.

my go to guy is like my drug dealer.
just went to get the recoil and bolts 30 bucks right.
well its a complete 125m on flats, ive got a 84 110 tank that doesn't clear the cdi and coil so I check the tank. no repairs and there's the complete but faded and a few cracks rear fender with a rusted seat pan. even grabbed the tank insulators and bolts. so another 100 bucks for that. and since I don't have a battery and the cables are just hanging he gives me the battery for free. might as well grab the battery cover, the solenoid cover and the cherry rear tail light for a extra 10 bucks. so 140 bucks. I ask him would it have made more sense to just buy the whole 125m? he said yes, i didn't even ask what he would have just sold the whole trike for. thank goodness I didn't bring a truck. jim

definetly the needs love but it runs. I can maybe use aluminum under the seat to hold some fiberglass together to make a seat pan from whats left of the original. I didn't realize I didn't need the key switch to pull start it, but going to install it anyway. jim

I met Brian 20 some years ago, he never got into the internet thing. I think there was a member here a few years ago that found him and was buying parts off him and selling them here for a small mark up to make it worth his time. If anyone local hasn't met him, he doesn't mind me sharing his number, but he only sells locally cash and carry, he's fair on his prices so we don't haggle, more you buy, he might throw some small stuff in for free. His three wheeler inventory is getting smaller. But he's got a ton of other junk. jim

got fuel lines and a beater tire with a 9 inch brake assembly which doesn't fit the forks. but it let me take it for a spin. good news is there is no issues with the shifter. pulled the headlight to fix the broken mount. tomorrow install the original front brake, and headlight and decide weather to keep it or sell it. jim

swapped the original brake back, advertised it and sold it in a day. too bad it sold before the new key switch showed up. Now its back to getting my growing pile of new parts installed on my 185s. jim

back to the original trike in this thread. I paid $80 for the pile of parts, used the motor and tank on a 81 185s frame and it runs really good. sold the 200m seat, fenders (cracked) and 1 hub for $70 so got the cost down to 10 bucks and still have the rear axle and exhaust for the M with ill probably find a way to use the exhaust on the 185. the 125m was 65 bucks plus 140 for the tank, recoil, plastics and misc stuff. I ended up keeping the headlight assembly, tail light and new key switch (came in after the sale) and still sold for 340. This is really the only way to afford all these hobbies, make them pay for themselves. Of course its a hobby for me, I dont figure the hours tinkering in the garage or chasing down parts. jim
