Hey All!

So background, I am new to 3 wheelers and carbureted engines. I am familiar with working on modern fuel injected car engines, so this fuel issue is stumping me. I bought this three wheeler in not great condition, it was not running and had a cracked carb. I replaced that with a cheap ebay carb and have had no luck starting it.

I have replaced the spark plug and battery and I am getting spark, air is not an issue either. I can start the engine with starting fluid but it immediately dies. From what I can tell, I am not getting any fuel, but beyond that I am not sure what to check.

I am stumped here and do not know what to check to make sure I can get fuel into the motor. Any help here would be appreciated on how to diagnose this issue!

Have you unhooked fuel line from tank to see if gas comes out of the petcock? They get plugged often.

Check the strainer screen in the petcock.

get a small squirt bottle, hook a hose from the bottle to the carb and seebif you can fill the bowl that way and get it running. or see if you javengas coming out of the petcock. jim

I had one of those cheap carbs where the float would stick up in the closed position. With the fuel petcock turned on I would blow in the tank for second so the pressure would dislodge the float and the bowl would fill. Once it was running it was OK.
