I took the 85 R out for a ride after work today and I noticed the light was not working, I figured bad bulb. But when I went to shut the bike off it came on while the motor was dying, what do you guys think? Bad ground? I did'nt have time to play around with it at all, so any ideas would be helpful.

Does the light turn on a bit when the switch is off, when you kick over? Does it work when the switch is on, and you kick it over? It could have to do with, like you said, bad ground, but it could be a bad stator too. I had one in a motorbike that did something similar to that because the plug was drawign to much power from the light. The stator was bad, and a new one fixed it. How old is your stator?

Most likely bad ground or dirty contacts on the switch, or a dirty connector. The lighting coil in a stator is separate from the ignition coil.
