I'm looking at a 200 es big red but do not know the year or the value of this. This is a very clean Honda 200 es big red with a shaft drive and reverse. The owner thinks its a 83 but I have an 83 that's chain drive and no reverse. Are these shaft drives dependable and what would the advantage of shaft vs. chain? And finally what's this tike worth? It's strange to see one of these in this good of shape. I've been reading along for months but I thought you all would set me on the right path.thanks .BC

The ATC200es was only made in 1984.

Yeh its definately a 1984, the advantage of shaft is that it is low maitenance (bascially none) I also think it gives it a tourquey feel over a chain drive. Im not sure what it is worth since im an Aussie. I have one and they are great machines but having no rear suspension is a definate downside......

the only problem i have have with them is the cam chain and gears wearing out, i have 2 of them and they were very solid machines, the shaft drive has very lil maintences and cheaper in the long run if u dont soak the brakes and ruin them, there is a plug that needs to be drained once in a while. far as price i have seen them on the boards here from over a grand to around five hundred

I have a tired 83 200 es chain drive now the question now is will this have enough power? He told me it was a 250 and that's what got my interest up but it turns out to be the 200 shaft. so I'm balking about it. This so clean it might be worth the power difference.he wants $ 1500. but I think $1000. is more like it.any ideas are greatly appreciated .BC
