I have recently started working on my '81 Honda atc200, and after rebuilding the carb, and a few other things, it looks like i need to replace all of the top end gaskets. There is oil all over the top end, some on the bottom, and it smoked heavily after I put the new carb on, now it wont start. This is my first engine rebuild, and I am confident in my abilities, but would like input from somone with more experience. Any suggestions? What signs of wear/damage should I look for when I have it torn down? Anything would help.....

Welcome to the board! First off get a manual, Honda ones are great but Cylmer ones are good to. With the manual you shoundn't have much of a problem. Get a gasket kit, I get mine from www.denniskirk.com but be sure to get one that comes with valve stem seals because they should be replaced, especially if you reseat the valves. Otherwise just look for parts that seem worn, scratches in the cylinder and pistion, ect. I would also replace the rings well you are in there, that is probably why it is smoking but once it is apart would will see if it needs anything else. And as always feel free to ask any other questions.
