Hey Guys
Brought a 200es on the weekend, carb cleaned, put on a coil with a new plug and it’s got spark also adjusted the tappets.

Check the pulse generator and timing seems fine.

Won’t even start on starting fluid, not a cracker nothing? I thought it might have at least something?

Any ideas? Thanks

Hi Ivan,
As a rule this is how I do it.
1. find spark
2.check compression
3. verify fuel/air
4. check timing

Honestly, it you follow this list by the time you reach the end of it, it will either be running or you will have found the problem.

Like Jim Mac said, compression is very important. not just finger in the hole, anything below 70psi will not run, most of the time 90psi or more is needed. I just had a 200e come in with 30psi compression, I gave it a new top end , and she purrs like a kitten now. compression well about 110. Also I have had a plug fire when outside the head, then not fire after being installed, try a different plug as part of finding spark.

Make sure the advance is properly lined up.

Try pull starting it.

I can check compression on the weekend. I’ll also try a new plug also!
