View Full Version : AC or DC from CDI, and adding a 12v sprayer!

Hello all,
I have an 83 200
no electric start. no rectifier.
wire diagram shows ac from stator/alt going to cdi, and also to light switch.
but shows Lights at 12v45W
so that to me says DC.
but the stator/alt puts out AC.

is it being rectified in the cdi?

or are the light bulbs themselves using ac and turning it to DC?

trying to see if I can run a sprayer with a 12v pump off of the system somewhere, maybe put a battery on the sprayer and use a wire from the lighting wire to send some dc voltage to the battery to keep it from draining.

knowlege?

cheers

If there was no factory battery most likely it doesn't have a rectifier.

That means it's coming out AC and you have to make one up, you can with some diodes if you can make a little circuit board or you can get a used rectifier...
