Nah, I own a Ford, because I am not a fan of working on Trucks and Cars. This was the prescribed method of several machine shops. I have a Big Bore 300 sleeve, and I have been unable to locate a cool Head that size other than Duncan Racings Powerhead. i talked to Loren Duncan and he said that they can make one, however I need to get him some info on the porting that has been done. He said that because he has to special make it, it'd be several weeks to a month. So this is temporary. I was told by several motor shops and machine shops that the water elbow is a pressed in item that is a seperate casting, and that welding would be difficult, and that JB Weld was the way that they'd handle that problem. It is just a water elbow and that because it is pressed in that JB Weld would hold it in, we'll see. There will be lots of testing, before any serious riding takes place.
If I was into repairing automobiles, I'd own a Chevy or Dodge, because they always need fixing!

I have the $$$ to buy a good head, but the regular head would need to be domed and I cannot find anyone reliable locally to machine the head to 72mm diameter and shape the dome to the proper size. Some of you guys are lucky to have a reliable shop nearby or yourselves to do it. I have another stock head that I'd love to have machined to fit properly, can anyone here do that?
That would be alot better than spending $200-$275 on a custom cool head. Would buy me some extra head gaskets for 300cc sleeved cylinder, and a red seat cover! :-P

Just find a new head. I wouldnt risk the extra money and the down time with your wheeler. Better to spend little now than a ton later ;)

from experience, the jb weld will melt under heat. i used it on an exhaust manifold and after a short while it melted and stunck like a mo fo. if that is not jb weld ignore the above statement.

uh....from my experience, a liquid-cooled head doesnt get as hot as an exhaust manifold... ;)

It works great and didn't get hot. I still am going to get a cool head or a machined stock head. Now that I got the 38mm A/S carb on it, it will absolutely fly!
