Hi, since I have had my Ytm200, the engine has always had a tick to it. I have adjusted valves and the timing chain, but the noise hasn't gone away. The only thing I've noticed was that one of the teeth on the timing gear is chipped. Could this possibly be the source? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I suppose that it could be.

Pull the cam and check the lobs on the rocker arms. They often wear over time and have flat spots on the surface the runs on the cam causing a tick that valve adjustments won’t cure.

Once I have the cam pulled, how do I remove the rocker arms? Thanks.

Invest in a manual if you haven’t. The shafts come out with a slide hammer, or the backyard equivalent of one, and then the rocker arms just fall out of the inspection covers. Mark them as I suspect they are identical and you’ll want to put them back together the same way they were.
