1988 Final Gear Set Compatibility With 85-87 Final Drive Case?

Has anyone tried to see if the 1988 Final drive gear set PN 41310-HC4-300 will work in place of a 1985-87 gear set PN 41310-HA0-300. Visually from pictures they look the same to me and disassembly is almost identical for both. For $80 i think i might try the install and see if they are compatible. Did this work for you? I have a 86 trx 250 and coming up with the same results and no one to confirm this will or will not work. Found on amazon:
