I have a really nice 110 rear fender and brackets that I'm sure nobody local wants. then this 110 pops up for sale a few weeks back, price keeps dropping so for 100 bucks I went and bought it. it's got spark, maybe low compression or out of time? it pops and spits out the carb. 2 rear tires are usuable has the recoil, motor spins free. I've got a 125m tank and the plastics. after this one I'm selling or trading a few off. it's getting crazy. jim

Just been in the motor, I see rtv between the case and cylinder. I've got spark but I'm also got a loose timing chain! Went in and lined it all back up but I'm thinking it jumped. I tightened the tensioner but I doesn't seem to be doing anything. Will a 125m tensioner work on a point style 110? jim

well it didn't jump time, the breaker plate was in the wrong position, got it corrected, barely runs on, loosened the valves, going to try a different carb off my 185s and see if that helps. found a front motor mount on a spare 125m motor. jim

the guy I bought my 185s from last Friday has a 110 motor for 80 bucks.
9 pm last night, I was spraying wd40 down the intake and spinning the motor. I'll spin it with a drill motor when I get home and report back. wish me luck! jim

hooked a drill, poured some gas in it and past the leaky petcock and it started up with the drill motor! smokes, but maybe it's the wd40 and gas that's been poured down the carb. after running about 15 seconds, I did a compression check, its up to 100 pounds now!. jim

Sounds like fun Jim. I started with an 80 110 about 3 years ago. Then a 185s. Then a 200s. Then another 200s. Then a 200m. These bikes are just so fun to ride, durable, dependable. And they handle upgrades and modifications quite well. I honestly dont know what I like about them the most. Probably wheelies!!

my first trike was early 80s a 110. been playing with these on and off since. It seems people are dumping thier broken projects and I'm just getting them, fixing them and collecting them lately. I'll probably get back down to 2 maybe 3 in the near future. jim

little progress, cleaned the jets, new petcock and got it to pull start once then it doesn't want to start, pull the plug and there's a small chunk of carbon in the gap, second time I see this. cleaned the plug and it runs again. thoughts are the carbon on the piston, head is breaking apart and burning off. Only thing I have is carb cleaner so I sprayed a bunch down the carb and inside the cylinder this morning. Ordered a new carb ( choke springs missing) And well see how it runs this afternoon. jim

so does 90 to 100psi mean always hard to start? smoke never went away, plug looks oily, I pull the plug, spary it with carb cleaner, let dry and starts a few times and smokes. after 2 or 3 times, I have to swap to another dry plug and getaybe 3 runs before it won't pull start.
Am I just looking at rings? found a nice tank for it, debating on weather it's worth sinking more $$$ into this thing. jim

Jim we have one of those points model 110's. Think it's a 1980. It smoked like crazy for a long time. Never really fouled out and died but it was wicked picky about what points we used and how they were adjusted. Once I got the points right it would start 1st pull every time. I hope someday I have time to build a 2 wheeler out of it.

maybe it's the points, the cover is missing and the oil pad doesn't touch the cam, while running I can see spark jump from the points to the case occasionally. jim

if you're worried about carbon buildup, get it running and then try the water trick on it...

it runs, going to pick up a tank for it Sunday morning. I priced myself this is my last trike! plan is to get this running. then decide which to keep, which to get rid off

got a seat made, used a quad pan and modified it to fit
still starts like crap. tried a new plug I found. is there a points vs cdi plug difference? it ran and after it stopped won't start again. it's got good spark, .014 gap on the points. I've got the original carb, going to clean it and give it another try. maybe it's the China carb? maybe it's the lack of compression? got a tank for it too. jim

okay, here's another theory. when the trike came home it was low on oil. I had a qt of MC 10-40 full synthetic oil on the shelf. Filled the oil and its been smoking and hard starting. I had a bottle of no smoke engine honey, added maybe 6 Oz into the crankcase, lever is at the full mark now. pulled the cord a few times to get it mixed in and it starts right up now! jim

I'm going to dump all the oil and replace it with regular Dino oil and see what it does. jim

did a oil change, not sure what was in there but it was like water coming out of the crankcase, and the motor was cold! well fresh oil and its still smoking but not as bad. maybe it just needs to be taken out and rode. rinsed the tank, dropped in new fuel lines, new fuel filters.
The wire that tensions the choke isn't tight on the choke so that's a thing to do. And of course after all the pulling and no start, the cord breaks! luckily I had extra cord so 10 minutes later, recoil is rewound.
I made the gas tank rubber knows out of a rubber spark plug boot, used a piece of yoga mat for the back of the tank and baleing wire to hold the tank down.
I'm missing the boot between the carb and air cleaner, so it's getting a clamp on filter, swapping some new tires onto my 185s and the old tires are going onto the 110. jim

pic of trike in progress. there is a really nice rear fender that's going to get installed. I did find a gas cap. not bad for a beater 110, have about 250 bucks in it, threw it on craigslsit for 250 bucks to make some room. jim
