I was just wondering if any of you guys have done an engine swap into a 350X frame? What fit easily and was worth doing the swap?
I am referring to engines that already have electric start from the factory.

I don't think that anything is an easy, bolt-in swap. The simplest may be a 300EX swap simply because you wouldn't have to worry about the oil tank like you would with a 400EX.

It's not very hard at all to add a 400EX engine to the 350X frame. Some guys sell the motor mounts that get it in the right place. You get electric start and reverse, but in stock form you lose power. The 350X engine puts out more than the 400EX for whatever reason, may be head design, exhaust, IDK. The 400EX setup must add 15lbs or so with the starter and battery, battery box etc, all things to consider. Aside from the 400EX, I haven't seen another motor that can be put in the 350X frame and have it hold up, of course we have seen people jam a CRF450R motor in them, or other combinations, but they are allot more work and "experimental" engines...

Sounds like using the 400ex setup may require some frame gussets.

read this than proceed. I gave up but I had my reason. I have stuff left over to reproduce what I did.

every 350x frame needs gussets, all break or have broken already. the frame need gussets even if you putting nothing in it. they were not strong at all.
