So I have been asking questions about this but I wanted to start over from the beginning, so here is the Paul Harvey.
I wanted a plain Big Red to leave at my house (not the shop) that anyone could ride on a regular basis. So I started with this:
269820269821
Decent shape for a project but had a very wonky and bent up front end.
269822269823269824269825
So I took the front end apart and replaced the neck bearings, rebuilt the forks, replaced the headlight, battled and won the fight against the stuck axle, straightened, cleaned and painted the front rack and replaced the handle bars.
269826
Killed a snake in the shop
269827
Old tires with tubes and painted rims make a big difference
269828269823
Replaced the battery box and have a super cool OG but cracked battery holder, cleaned the gas tank and started it up by crossing the solenoid
Waiting on the main fuse to make it start like it should.
Please let me know what I am missing or doing wrong?

I like those tires. They look brand new. You sure they are old?

Footy: I have a lot of projects lol
bigtrout3: You are correct, the front tire is new. Rears were tubed and hit with a pressure washer.
King: I wish I had more time for them. I enjoy the knowledge gained from trying to figure out the puzzle. Something that would take you 30 minutes to diagnose and fix might take me all day.
Still waiting on the main fuse that I ordered on 9-2

Well, I finally got the main fuse in the mail and installed...
Key works and neutral and headlight comes on but still nothing from button??? Any thoughts?
Installed a mudflap
269872
took zip ties out of the broke fender and welded it... (Stupid decision)
269873
Gave the old lady 3 beer and loaded the dishwasher:)

We'll see what happens.

Try a test light to the two wires on the starter relay while pressing the starter button .
If nothing then test the starter button with a Continuity tester .

Ok guys: please help...
Realize that I might have not performed these test correctly or that my equipment was faulty (test light)
Test light to the relay points-no light
Continuity test for the button showed nothing. It began and ended with the multi meter reading 1
Changed the relay solenoid -nothing at the button
Changed the button-nothing at the button
Changed the ignition switch to a hacked hot wired one, crossed the red and black-nothing at the button.
What am I missing?

I do not mean this is a condescending way: Is your kill switch in the correct position? Believe me when I say we have all been there...
If your kill switch is in the right position, I'd start checking continuity of the wires themselves before things get to the solenoid. Depending on how the bike sat mice might have nibbled on something or some other wear might have occurred.

Kill switch is correct.
Starts right up when I cross the solenoid.
I hate electronic stuff because of times like this.

Well Well Well...
Problem solved. The first two buttons were faulty. I put the third one on and it works great but the kill switch is stuck so I am going to clean it. up and try to route it correctly to the handlebars. The place all the wires connect under the headlight is no joke and not an easy place to work.
Thanks for all advice.
