CDI interchange between models

I was on ebay looking at a CDI for a 350X and the fitment chart shows it uses the same CDI for most honda 4 strokes made from ~ 1985 through about 2000 or so. ATC, TRX and XR dirt bikes. I was a bit surprised by this. If this is true I can use the CDI from my 250SX or XR100R to trouble shoot on my 350X. Does anyone know if this is true?

I always look on www.cmsnl.com to see which parts are interchangeable, as far as I know the OEM 350X CDI compatibility is only for 350X 85 & 86. You will most likely find other CDi's that make it run, the question is how well though.

Have a link to that Ebay listing?

If it's some generic Chinese CDI listing, I say no, it won't be a safe bet for tryagnostics.

If you want to risk trying your other CDIs to see if they'll work on the 350X I'm sure the outcome you post would be useful in some regard, working or fried.
