1984 200x clutch questions

I'm having problems getting the clutch to release after putting the right side crankcase cover on. The clutch lever on the case doesn't seen to push the clutch lifter rod in enough, therefore not releasing the clutch disks. The previous owner had been in the right side before i got it. Downloaded the service manual and looked up parts at Partszilla, all the parts look right. I can leave the clutch springs and lifter plate off and the clutch
turns freely. I installed new disk and plates.
Any help would be appreciated.

Update, turns out rad powersports sent me the wrong clutch disks and want refund $$ because i installed them they said. The disks where to thick, they fit a cr80. I want be using them again.
