Luggage Rack

Was a front and rear luggage rack an option on a 1983 ATC 185s? I'd like to add a rear rack to mine if it's possible. Would like it to look and function like factory. And if a rear hitch can be installed that would be great too.

Yes, racks were an optional OEM accessory. They're not easy to come by, especially at a bargain if having to pay shipping.

The rear hitches for those are pretty universal for the 185/200 chain drive models. They clamp around the rear axle carrier and have supports that go to the grab bar. Double check fitment for your 185S, the supports for the 200S/E may be a different length, but there are several for sale on EBay.

There was aftermarket options available too. They don't look like Hondaline racks, but would be the right vintage. If you really want a rear rack, I have modified newer quad racks to fit on a three wheeler. They don't look "right" but they do function. On the two that I've made, I made them to be used temporarily, but ended up liking them so much that they are now permanent. That includes the one on my 350X. Now to get them painted some day...

I have one off a 200s, needs repair but its all there.
Hondaline and other company's in the 70s 80s made accessories for ATC racks, covers, lights, knives, gun scabbards, thumb extension, all kind of things.

I have a 1985 TRX125M that I am using for parts. I am hoping that the rear rack on it will fit my ATC185S. It looks pretty close.
