I am finally getting a chance to go through my 350X and correct a few things. The carb needs a rebuild but I thought about getting the 400ex carb instead. I was wondering what is the general consensus on the 400ex carb vs. rebuilding the stock 350X carb? I realize the price difference. My 350X is a rider not a collection piece. I am just trying to make it into a better rider. Thanks in advance for any advice.

If your factory carburetor is in good condition for sure rebuild it . The only kit I would recommend is a shindy or OEM .
Their are a ton of threads on this site on the positives of going with a new OEM 400ex or 400x carburetor .
Here is one

A real OE Honda 400ex carb it perfect. this is also a great way to take advantage of other up grades IE: exhaust, over bore, raised compression, fancy air filter.

BUY a new last year 400ex carb. drill out the welch plug to access the AF screw and jet it up. $250 for a new OEM carb. Screw the used 20 year old ones. I put one on my 300x....sucker moves!

I got an amazon 400ex carb for $40 with a throttle cable. It took some patience with a heat gun to get it together, 30 minutes of jetting and its a night and day difference, way more top end.

I'd use an OEM 400ex carb which you can get a new 2014 still from honda.
